Food Makes the Mind

Diet plays a very, very important part in people’s lives. Food not only makes the body, it makes the mind. It has a direct connection to the attitudes of the mind.

The Full Potential of Your Mind
By Sri Swami Satchidananda

We seem to do many things each day that create our problems. But, we can undo everything in a meditation practice. You just sit. You don’t need to do anything but = be aware of yourself. In meditation you are the witness that sits  behind the body and mind. When you sit for meditation, sometimes the mind says, I’m too tired to concentrate, and then you get up and forget about meditation. Instead, you can tell the mind, Okay, you can run, I will watch.  MORE

Join devotees from all over the globe as we celebrate our beloved Sri Gurudev
(Sri Swami Satchidananda), our tradition, and the many world faith traditions, during the annual Guru Poornima weekend, hosted by Yogaville Online. This virtual celebration will include on Saturday: the Light Of Truth Universal Service, an interfaith panel discussion, evening satsang. On Sunday: join us for the re-dedication of the newly renovated Guru Bhavan (meditation hall) at Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville.

In this Integral Yoga Hatha Yoga class taught by master teacher Swami Asokananda, and hosted by Yoga Alliance, the focus is on meditative awareness and allowing time for the body to release more fully. Every morning and evening, as the mist touched the mountains, he would come and impart the sacred teachings...  MORE

David is currently home in Europe—healthy and grateful. We are moved to celebrate the life of “this dancing prayer of a man,” with an invitation to engage in a practice of caring for one another and for this beautiful planet. We hope you will join us. And how might we begin such a practice? Br. David writes, “Gratefulness has three steps...  MORE

In this discussion between Integral Yoga teacher and Yogaville resident Vyasa Smith and Avi Gordon (director of the Integral Yoga Teachers Association), they discuss gratitude, the advantages of getting away from the "hustle and bustle" of life, and how enlightened beings see things. Vyasa shares: "I imagine what Nelson Mandela was thinking: Okay, I’m in prison but I’ve got my mind, I’ve got God, and so you can’t take that. I can understand things more in solitude.

The Five Koshas
By Stephen Marks

One question I often like to start my meditation workshops with is: Are you your thoughts? It’s quite controversial for some people and can provoke interesting responses. Sure, most of the time we feel like we are stuck in our heads. But aside from our minds, how else do we define ourselves? Maybe we don’t pay enough attention to the other parts of us. We have a body and we have emotions too. Is that it or are there other, more subtle embodiments too of who you are?  MORE
