Powerful Advice

If you want to share advice and knowledge about your vegetarian diet and healthy lifestyle, don’t simply thrust it onto your friends. When your friends wonder about your health and ask your advice, then you can gently suggest a healthier diet and lifestyle. Your words will then have more power. 

September 8th marks the 134th birth anniversary of Sri Swami Sivanandaji, the Guru of Sri Swami Satchidananda. Swami Sivanandaji is considered one of the greatest Yoga Masters and Vedantins of the 20th century. He founded the Divine Life Society and Sivananda Ashram in Rishikesh. He authored three hundred books on Yoga and Vedanta and Divine Life Society centers have spread around the globe. We celebrate the anniversary in this issue of Integral Yoga Magazine.

Sri Swami Sivananda: A Spiritual Giant

It is impossible to put Swami Sivanandaji in one bottle, in one category. Sometimes you will see him as a great Jnana Yogi. Another time he is the embodiment of total bhakti with a surrendering attitude. Another time, he is an example of Raja Yoga—practicing asana, pranayama, concentration, meditation. And, yet another time, you will see him so innocent, playing with the children. He will be just like a baby, as if he knew nothing. So that is why I say it’s very hard to define him.  MORE

It is time. It is past time. We are witnessing a myriad of overlapping world crises manifesting in destructive ways. We all, every one of us, need to take some form of action now. Our world is calling us to shift in a way we have never had to in our history. Change and suffering, as we are taught in Yoga philosophy, are the nature of the world. Menopause Yoga

How to Commit to Meditation Practice
