Green Built Guide: November 2021

Green Built Alliance is halfway through our fall schedule of continuing-education courses that will fulfill the six elective hours required annually by North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors, as well as being eligible for credit through American Institute of Architects and certain other trade organizations. 

Over the next few weeks, we'll host our three remaining virtual classes via Zoom from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursdays with discounts for members and free equitable access tickets for individuals who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or a person of color).

All of our classes offer approved hours for general contractors as well as architects, and also count toward our new Regenerative Professional Accreditation credential that acknowledges a deep, evolving competency in advanced green-building best practices.

Support Our Nonprofit This Holiday and Remember Us in Your Year-End Giving

With the end of 2021 less than two months away, many people have turned their minds toward ways to give back this holiday season and places to contribute their year-end charitable giving.

We are looking for an artist to create a mural on an inside wall of our new office at The Collider, a shared workspace downtown for organizations advancing innovative climate solutions. We have a large blank wall (23’ x 9’) that we would love to enhance with a mural that conveys our vision for a more healthy, sustainable and equitable future.

As a member of our organization and top builder in our Green Built Homes certification program, our partners at Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity are currently hiring for several positions. Three full-time positions are available to join their team as construction supervisor, home repair administrator, and operations associate.

The Asheville section of the American Institute of Architects continues its annual Where Building Science Meets Climate Science series later this week.

The symposium begins with an evening presentation this Thursday, Nov. 4, and continues in a full-day program this Friday, Nov. 5 with lunch. Continuing-education credit hours are anticipated.
