SEASON FINALE

FLIGHTS of FANCY
In a month, Mistral presents its 25th Season Finale, Flights of Fancy, with a cast of nine artists in an eclectic program for winds and strings that soars across nationalities and centuries.

Saturday, April 23,  4:00 pm,
West Parish Church, Andover

Sunday, April 24, 5:00 pm,
St Paul’s Church, Brookline

Ibert, Dohnányi, Spohr

In this final program of our 25th season, BSO members Rachel Childers (horn) and Richard Ranti (bassoon) join clarinetist Todd Palmer, oboist Kemp Jernigan and myself on flute to play a flirty, fun, French woodwind quintet by Jacques Ibert. Cellist Sasha Scolnik-Brower flies in from Amsterdam to join our returning guest couple from the Chicago Symphony, violist Larry Neuman and violinist Qing Hou, for the riveting Dohnányi Serenade for String Trio. With Mistral's favorite bassist, Don Palma, the whole band comes together for a rousing finale with Spohr's beguiling and melodic nonet for winds and strings.

Rachel Childers, horn - Don Palma, bass - Sasha Scolnik-Brower, cello - Lawrence Neuman, viola - Kemp Jernigan, oboe - Julie Scolnik, flute - Todd Palmer, clarinet - Qing Hou, violin - Richard Ranti, bassoon

Thank you so much to those of you who have already read my memoir. Beyond the thrill of finally seeing it in print after so many decades, I am touched by the daily emails from readers who tell me it resonated deeply with them and brought back stories of their own.
