SEASON FINALE

FLIGHTS of FANCY
In three weeks, Mistral presents its 25th Season Finale, Flights of Fancy, with a cast of nine artists in an eclectic program that features both winds and strings and soars across nationalities and centuries.

Saturday, April 23, 4:00 p.m.
West Parish Church, Andover

Sunday, April 24, 5:00 p.m.
St Paul’s Church, Brookline

Ibert, Dohnányi, Spohr

In this final program of our 25th season, BSO members Rachel Childers (horn) and Richard Ranti (bassoon) join clarinetist Todd Palmer, oboist Kemp Jernigan and myself on flute to play a flirty, fun, French woodwind quintet by Jacques Ibert. Cellist Sasha Scolnik-Brower flies in from Amsterdam to join our returning guest couple from the Chicago Symphony, violist Larry Neuman and violinist Qing Hou, for the riveting Dohnányi Serenade for String Trio. With Mistral's favorite bassist, Don Palma, the whole band comes together for a rousing finale with Spohr's beguiling and melodic nonet for winds and strings.

Rachel Childers, horn - Don Palma, bass - Sasha Scolnik-Brower, cello
Lawrence Neuman, viola - Kemp Jernigan, oboe - Julie Scolnik, flute
Todd Palmer, clarinet - Qing Hou, violin - Richard Ranti, bassoon

MOZART SOCIETY DINNER!
Save the date!
After a hiatus of two years, we are thrilled once again to host the annual Mozart Society Dinner, our moment to thank Mistral's most generous donors ($500+) for their support. This evening of music, wine, food, and camaraderie with fellow music lovers has always been one to remember. And, as always, there will be a short performance before dessert!
Thursday, May 12, 6 p.m. at our home in Brookline.
(Guests must be triple vaccinated.) An email invitation will be sent to Mozart Society members at the end of April.

(There is plenty of time to become a Mozart Society member! And if you are unsure of your membership status, email Sheila: Sales@MistralMusic.org.)

Thank you, and I hope to see you soon or feel your cyber presence on Sunday morning!

Thanks so much to those of you who have already read my memoir. Beyond the thrill of finally seeing it in print after so many decades, I am touched by the daily emails from readers who tell me it resonated deeply with them and brought back stories of their own. (All book info at www.JulieScolnik.com) Available through Indie Booksellers, and Amazon.
