Dear friends,
A little reminder not to miss our Season Finale this weekend, Flights of Fancy, with a cast of nine artists in an eclectic lighter-than-air program for winds and strings!
Saturday, April 23, 4:00 p.m.
West Parish Church, Andover
Sunday, April 24, 5:00 p.m.
St Paul’s Church, Brookline
Mozart, Ibert, Dohnányi, Spohr
The final program of our 25th season soars across nationalities and centuries. BSO horn player Rachel Childers and bassoonist Sam Childers join clarinetist Todd Palmer, oboist Kemp Jernigan and myself on flute for a flirty, fun, charming French woodwind quintet by Jacques Ibert. Cellist Sasha Scolnik-Brower has flown in from Amsterdam to join our returning guest couple from the Chicago Symphony, violist Larry Neuman and violinist Qing Hou, for the riveting Dohnányi Serenade for String Trio. Then with Mistral's favorite bassist, Don Palma, the whole band comes together for a rousing finale in Spohr's beguiling and melodic Nonet for Winds and Strings. And there will be a Mozart surprise! It truly doesn't get much more fun than this!
