Whānau News: 23 September
Blessed are those who dwell in the house of the Lord;
they are ever praising You. (Psalm 84:4)
I saw a swallow flying around our house on Tuesday. The first swallow of spring. There are a number of pairs that return each year, to permanent nests near our home. There was one nest on the bend of the guttering downpipe, which remained for many years. During those years, it became a new habit to read Psalm 84, whenever the swallows return.
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord…
Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow has made a nest near your altar.
Lord almighty, my King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising You.
This is my prayer. A spring prayer. A welcome home for the welcome swallow. It is a moment to consider: is my heart still returning, and my soul still yearning for the Presence of God?
Lord I want to be the swallow that always returns. Home. To the house of God. Lord I want to be near you at the altar. Building my life there in Your Presence. Lord Almighty, my King and my God. May my life be an offering of worship. How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! May you know the warm welcome of your Saviour, afresh today.

For the Kids this Week...
Hello Families, we have three great programmes running for children at FBC, Pre-school room (0- 5 yrs), Discovery kids room (yrs 1-6) and FBI (yrs 7-8). All children are welcome 😊. When you get to church, please sign your Children in at the sign in desk.

Coming Up
We’re so excited about the upcoming JoyRide. We’re raising awareness and funds to support kids in India. Sunday 2nd October will be a shorter service followed by the JoyRide bike-a-thon for all to participate or support. It’s a bike-a-thon for the whole family. Kids, remember to bring their bikes along to church. Please could you register your children via the Church Center App or follow this link.
On the day, please bring your bikes or scooters to the hall at 9.30am, along with a helmet and shoes. The bike-a-thon will start at 11am in the car park and will go for about an hour. We will send out more information on how the car park will be set up next week. If you would like to sponsor the children doing the bike-a-thon please follow this link: https://givealittle.co.nz/team/franklin-baptist-church. Every donation will go towards the efforts of the children biking.
There’s also an opportunity to raise funds throughout October. You could get people to sponsor you to ride a certain distance on your bike, or a group of e-bikers could consider a personal cycle trip to raise funds. Perhaps those gym enthusiasts could be sponsored for their personal goals on their static cycle machines. We’d love to hear your ideas! For more info contact penny@fbc.nz

Alpha Marriage Course
Next session: 29 September at 7pm in the cafe. It's not too late. You still can join! The Marriage Course is designed to help couples invest in their relationship and build a strong marriage. Topics include: Strengthening Connection, The Art of Communication, Resolving Conflict, The Power of Forgiveness, The Impact of Family, Intimacy and Love in Action. Chinese Alpha Course

This is an exciting new programme!!! Alpha NZ are introducing an Alpha course in the Chinese language (with English subtitles). The launch of the Chinese Alpha course starts Monday 17th October in the church cafe from 10.30am to noon followed by a light buffet.

AGM
Our church AGM will be held this Sunday, 25th of September, straight after the morning service. The AGM is an important opportunity to celebrate what God is doing in our church community. Everyone is welcome both members and non-members.

Barn Dance
You do not want to miss the fun we will have at the Franklin Baptist Barn Dance! It is all happening on Saturday 15th October, 6:30pm - 8:30pm. There will be a cuppa and cake and spot prizes for the best dressed! Tickets are available for all: 5+ under: Free. $5 per person, $20 for family of 5, $25 for families of more than 5. 12 November 2022, 9am - 2pm. Calling everyone who makes things and wants to join in this mortgage repayment fundraiser! We’re looking for items made out of wood (woodturners), craft items, Christmas baking and preserves, handmade soaps, etc. Book your table now (tables are $20). Profit you make on the day will be yours to keep or you can choose to donate 10% or more to the mortgage repayment fund. Please spread the word to friends and family.
