CiderFest Is Happening in a New Way + Opportunities to Shape Clean Energy and Green Building Locally

Our nonprofit's annual CiderFest NC fundraiser will be held in a brand-new format this fall that offers loyal guests the chance to celebrate, sample and savor cider safely and responsibly.

While our large annual festival will not be offered this fall in light of current health concerns, the event will continue in 2020 through CiderFest Tours: small-group curated tours of three Asheville cideries being offered in partnership with Leap Frog Tours.

The tours allow participants to visit three Asheville cideries — Noble Cider, Urban Orchard Cider Co. and TreeRock Social Cider House & Mead Bar — for intimate, small-group tasting sessions to sample unique takes on the craft beverage at each location.

To offer the most people an opportunity to take part, the tours will be offered from 3 to 7 p.m. on every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday in October.

Tours can be reserved for groups of 2 to 14 people, and bookings are now open. To prioritize safety in light of COVID-19, all tours will be private without combining reservations from separate parties. Since our normal event usually sells out with 2,000 tickets and this year's tours have a significantly lower capacity, we encourage everyone to book early.

The 2020 edition of our annual Green Building Directory is officially in distribution. Members should have received a copy via mail earlier this month, and the directory is also available for pickup at free newsstands around our area.

The theme of this year's directory is on the intersection of green building and affordable housing. When we decided nearly a year ago to explore the topics of sustainable, equitable and affordable housing in this issue, we had no idea how timely it would prove to be in this unprecedented year. We hope you enjoy and welcome your feedback!
