The Ocean of the Mind

Deep in the middle of the ocean of the mind there is no pollution. It is absolutely pure. That part is always contented. It never likes or dislikes. It accepts everything; it is not proud. And this is the real nature of your true Self. Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.”   Swami Satchidananda

Yoga for Wellness
By Sri Swami Satchidananda

There is a beautiful biblical saying: “Seek the kingdom of God first and all the rest will be added unto you.” Whether you want it or not, it will come. Health, wealth, friends, money and fame will just come to you. They are the by-products of the most important thing: your peace. And just what is that kingdom and where is it? It is within you. Yoga explains that the kingdom of God is within you as a peaceful mind. Let the mind be peaceful and it becomes a beautiful throne for the Divine Light or energy to express itself.  MORE

What is Yoga Therapy Really All About?
By Dr. Steffany Moonaz, PhD, C-IAYT

Yoga has a system of understanding the whole person called the PMK (Pancha Maya Kosha) model. This view perceives each person as five layers of being, moving from the most to least perceptible. The outermost layer is physical. Within that exists the energy/breath, then mental/emotional, wisdom, and ultimately bliss/spiritual connection. You may recognize this whole-person approach from the BPSS model (Bio Psycho Social Spiritual), which acknowledges the layers of influence on a person’s wellbeing.  MORE

In 1966, Swami Satchidananda arrived in New York City as a guest of artist Peter Max (after being invited to Europe by filmmaker Conrad Rooks). This short documentary was produced as a tribute to New York City and the Integral Yoga Institute, as the birthplace of Integral Yoga in America—and a birthplace that launched a global Yoga revolution that continues today. Produced in honor of “Integral Yoga Day” 2020 and the 50th Anniversary of the Integral Yoga Institute of New York (13th Street) and San Francisco (Dolores Street).

Why We Need to Do a Silent Retreat (at Home)
and Why We Need to Now

By Filippo de Lenardo

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to attend a silent meal; the concept was to meet with random people at someone’s house and have dinner without talking for the first hour—not the place to go if we’re looking to pitch a business idea! The goal of the activity was to observe ourselves during the silent hour with the hope that once speaking was allowed, we’d be able to dive into deep conversations. It sounded fascinating, but for some reason—I never showed up.  MORE

During a recent Integral Yoga podcast, Avi Gordon (director of the IYTA) interviewed Cory Sterling, (lawyer, small business owner and Yoga teacher) who is the author of the new book, The Yoga Law Book. Avi and Cory discuss the spiritual ethics of being a lawyer, dealing with challenges and following one's dreams, among other topics.

At Kailash, the hilltop shrine that overlooks the Light Of Truth Universal Shrine (LOTUS) in Yogaville, members of Yogaville Environmental Solutions and the Virginia Community Rights Network gathered to support #ItTakesAMovement. This movement (sponsored by The Climate Mobilization) is about advocating for voting, raising one's voice, and taking action to defend the election results, because they believe there are just a few weeks left to have a chance at beating back the Climate Emergency and protecting what’s left of democracy.
