Eternal Witness

The mind and body are also part of nature. Nature changes, so they too must constantly change. Allow them to play their part. Be a witness—the Eternal Witness.”  Swami Satchidananda

Raise Yourself to a Divine Level
By Sri Swami Satchidananda

As human beings, we have beautiful clothes, nice cars, and we are very fond of many things. We think we are so great, but much of what we do is also done by many animals. They eat when they’re hungry and they have nice houses in which to live. Are your houses as nice as the beautiful, waterproof swinging bungalows built on branches by little sparrows? Have human beings been able to build a swinging bungalow out of pieces of grass and twigs?  MORE

In honor of the 106th birth anniversary of Sri Swami Satchidananda, we offer this beautiful tribute to the spirit of the Satguru that is celebrated in the sacred text, the “Sri Guru Gita.”
It is impossible  to find the appropriate words to describe the elation I experience upon arising in the wee hours of the morning before sunrise, with a lightness of body and ease of movements that allow for a careful, fresh and neat preparedness for the anticipated occasion at hand. The day is Thursday and the occasion is the reciting of the “Sri Guru Gita” in the Chidambaram Shrine...  MORE

In this music video, Sanjay Mahajan (accompanied by Rupali and Saveri) chant selected verses with a backdrop of footage filmed in India and Satchidananda Ashram, along with photos of Satgurus, sages and saints of India. This video is part of the CD/DVD set "Sri Guru Gita," which features the entire "Guru Gita" sung in Sanskrit and English.

When we hear the term “let go,” we don’t always entirely comprehend it, as it isn’t always as simple as “mind over matter” and just releasing what we feel. Often, as much as we try to force ourselves to let go of the grip our past has on us, we end up back where we started, thinking, feeling, and sometimes even obsessing about a certain someone without fully knowing why or what to do about it. There is one small word that holds an incredible amount of weight that can keep us plunged...  MORE

Jayanthi Celebration and "Transformation,"
Satchidananda Ashram–Fundraiser, Part
2

Join Integral Yoga's global celebrations of the Jayanthi of Sri Swami Satchidananda. On Dec 19, Yogaville hosts a Livestream morning/evening program; the New York IYI hosts an evening program. San Francisco IYI hosts "How Guru and Grace Guide Our Lives." Integral Yoga Gibraltar hosts an in-person celebration on Dec 22. Check other centers' websites for details on their celebrations. In case you missed the Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville fundraising event "Transformation," it is being repeated on Dec. 20!

Did you ever wonder how it came to be that when you say “Yoga” most people think “postures/asanas?” And why Yoga’s foundational text begins with the word “Now?” Mysteries solved! And, a discussion of the goal of Yoga, some of its obstacles and workarounds our two old fogey yogis have found along the way. Tune in for Episode 7 of the "Two Old Fogey Yogis" on Soundcloud or via iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, PlayerFM and now on iHeart Radio and the Bandcamp podcast apps!

"What beauty are YOU making with this precious life?" Pinecones, flowers, stones, and berries come alive in this wildly creative "stop motion animated" short film featuring the whimsical and kaleidoscopic work of Day Schildkret's Morning Altars. This was released worldwide on Earth Day 2020. Enjoy the inspiration!

The spirit of sangha is so beautifully exemplified in the ashram offering of a So. Indian meal to all in Yogaville in honor of Sri Gurudev's Jayanthi. A day earlier, Harini Lender offered a No. Indian meal (from a new restaurant in Farmville) to our swamis, and sangha members could also participate. During Rev. Prakasha Shakti's birthday this past week, a socially distanced group of community members sang happy birthday & held signs with loving wishes, as she greeted them (along with her pup, Rocket).
