Green Built Guide: February 2021

Registration Open for Continuing-Ed Classes for General Contractors and Architects

Green Built Alliance has finalized our second-quarter schedule of continuing-education courses that will fulfill the six elective hours required annually by North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors, as well as being eligible for credit through American Institute of Architects and certain other trade organizations.

From April through June, we'll be hosting virtual classes via Zoom on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month with discounts for members and free equitable access tickets for individuals who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or a person of color).

All six available classes are approved hours for general contractors as well as architects, and also count toward our new Regenerative Professional Accreditation credential that acknowledges a deep, evolving competency in advanced green-building best practices.

***** For the two-hour mandatory course required for GCs, we are referring to TrainingFolks, which has an asynchronous e-learning option for the class. You can receive a $10 discount off each course you purchase when you use Green Built Alliance’s coupon code — NCGC0109 — at checkout. Visit this website to register.

We'll be hosting more classes, including new offerings, this fall. Watch for that schedule to be released this summer.

Invest Just a Few Minutes to Improve the Future of North Carolina's Building Codes

Our friends at North Carolina Building Performance Association are leading a campaign to nominate two building-performance professionals to fill key seats on the state's Building Code Council.

NCBPA is advocating for one of our longtime members and close partners, Amy Musser of Vandemusser Design, to join the council, along with Chris Berg of Summit Design and Engineering Services.

These two individuals' additions to the Building Code Council would be a crucial step in ensuring continued improvements to our state's residential and commercial building and energy codes.

Please consider investing just a few minutes today to join NCBPA and GBA in recommending Musser and Berg to join the council.
