Real Tranquility

Tranquilizers can never give you real tranquility. Sleeping pills can never give you real sleep. Cosmetics will never make you beautiful. Real beauty and tranquility are based on a peaceful mind.   Swami Satchidananda

Become Like Children
By Sri Swami Satchidananda

You don’t need to go anywhere to become peaceful. There’s no need to go live in a cave or somewhere in the forest. And then how many people would lose their peace when they become very excited about living in the cave itself? Just be as you are. You don’t need to go anywhere, but if the desire arises, okay, you should go just to learn something, and then come back to where you are now. But even better than changing your situation is to just stop doing anything that will disturb your equanimity.  MORE

A beautiful relaxation experience led by Sri Swami Satchidananda. Yoga Nidra is a classical Yoga practice for de-stressing the body and mind that leads the practitioner toward the recognition of one's essence-nature. The practice enables you to let go of body-mind-ego identification and tap into a deep experience of eternal being, pure awareness, and unending joy (sat-chid-ananda in Sanskrit), which is one's true nature. We hope you enjoy this experience.

The Role Yoga Plays in Integrative and Holistic Health
By Nicole McCray

Modern culture often assumes that conventional medicine is more effective than alternative therapies like Yoga. But the truth is that holistic approaches can be much more successful in many cases. This is especially true of chronic health problems where lifestyle and behavior changes can have a major impact. For example, drug and alcohol abuse, poor diet and exercise habits, lack of sleep, and chronic stress are key contributors to a variety of health issues, including arthritis and diabetes.  MORE

A Spiritual Love Story
By Jeff Ananda Kamen

Like thousands before me, I fell for her on first encounter. Dressed in the orange clothing of an Integral Yoga sannyasin (monk), she was also wrapped in a palpable aura of no-nonsense compassion and something else I would soon identify: humor. She walked to where I was leaning against a wall in a reception area crowded with hungry students, guests, and staff waiting for the gong to sound the beginning of the noon-time meal. She looked me in the eye for a timeless moment...  MORE

"The knowing secret is in the gap between every thought, every sensation, every perception, every sound, every breath, every image, every experience. The gap between objects is a perceptual gap between two snapshots of experience. So, in the gap is infinite creativity, infinite possibilities, and pure joy: Sat-chid-ananda. Sat, eternal truth; chid, pure consciousness; ananda, spontaneous joy. Mind the gap and you will be free! Satchidananda: that's the secret." ~Deepak Chopra
What motivates you to get out of bed? What do you aspire to in your life? How do you live your Yoga? These are some of the questions our two yogis will consider. This topic also leads them into a deep discussion about the distinction between living a life based in nonduality vs. duality. What about the ability to integrate these two lenses, without the trap of spiritual bypassing? Don’t miss this final episode of Season 1! Listen on Soundcloud, iTunes, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Pandora and other podcast apps.
