Welcome New LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell
I'm thrilled to welcome Chief McDonnell back to the LAPD. He has the perfect combination of inside-outside experience, grassroots leadership, and a community-based focus to seamlessly take the helm during a time of unprecedented crisis in our City. I trust he will immediately begin restoring the ranks, improving morale, and addressing the crime epidemic plaguing Los Angeles. I look forward to considering his appointment in Public Safety Committee and Council. Welcome, Chief McDonnell!

Brianna Kupfer Killer Sentenced To Life In Prison Without Parole
Nothing will ever bring Brianna Kupfer back, and even the jury verdict and subsequent sentencing of her killer to life in prison without parole won't ease the pain of Brianna's family and loved ones. But, we are grateful to the police, prosecutor, jury, and judge for their superb work in ensuring this violent criminal is permanently removed from our community.

Venice Beach Hosts Epic Red Bull Breakdance Competition
Last weekend, we were stoked to host the Red Bull BC One competition at Venice Beach, which has deep roots in breaking culture and helped popularize the movement since the early ‘80s. This year’s event drew seasoned veterans and rising stars from across the country to battle for the prestigious title. With Olympic athletes and legendary breakers as judges, the competition showcased some of the best athletes in the sport. We are absolutely loving the vibes in Venice lately!

New Signs Address Camping In Palisades Parks
The Pacific Palisades Task Force on Homelessness recently noticed an uptick of camping in city-owned parklands in the very high fire severity zone. As we head into fire season, we are taking extra precautions with LAPD and Rec & Parks to install new signage and keep our dry hillsides and canyons clear.
Every week, your CD11 Beautification Team and our City Departments are working all over the Westside to make improvements, big and small. If an area in your neighborhood needs special attention, please contact our Westchester District Office for assistance.
For this week’s Park’s Pick, I’m thrilled to spotlight Maria’s Italian Kitchen, a beloved gem that started right here in CD 11's own, Brentwood Village. Founded by Maria Alfano in 1968, this iconic eatery has blossomed into one of the Westside's best spots homemade Italian cuisine. When you step into Maria’s, you can feel the rich heritage and warmth that come from generations of Napolitano recipes. Under the leadership of Madelyn, Maria’s Kitchen continues to be a cherished part of our community, and we’re honored to celebrate their enduring legacy!
