City Council Unanimously Opposes Kroger-Albertsons Merger
Click Here To Watch My Remarks

The City Council unanimously voted to oppose the proposed Kroger-Albertsons merger, which could lead to the closure of more than a dozen local grocery stores, including our beloved Little Vons in Westchester. We are proud to stand with our friends at UFCW Local 770 in the fight to protect local union jobs and keep our neighborhoods thriving.

Paris Olympics Delegation Hosted By City Of Los Angeles

I was thrilled to join Mayor Karen Bass in welcoming a delegation of Paris City officials to Los Angeles to share best practices as we prepare for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Leadership from the City and its departments, Los Angeles County, Metro, LA28, and the Paris delegation participated in panel discussions on business procurement, transit, legacy impact, sustainability, accessibility, city services and operations, and more. A huge thanks to Mayor Bass and her team for bringing us all together. As chair of the Ad Hoc Committee on the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, I look forward to continuing and advancing these discussions!

Major Infrastructure Upgrades Planned Ahead Of World Events In Los Angeles

This week, Mayor Bass signed an executive directive to accelerate infrastructure improvements across Los Angeles in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 2028 Olympics and Paralympics, and other major international events. The directive sets the wheels in motion for a multi-year investment plan, forcing city departments to step up and work together like never before. We’re talking major upgrades—road repairs, park renovations, safer streets, and better services—done faster, smarter, and more efficiently. This is the kind of action we need to prepare for the world stage and make L.A. the city it should be. Thank you, Mayor Bass!

Highlights From The Venice Neighborhood Council Visit
It was a pleasure to join my neighbors at the Venice Neighborhood Council meeting this week. I gave an update on the status of the City budget, homelessness, public safety, Ocean Front Walk, and the many projects in and around Venice we have underway. We've made good progress in a short time, but we are far from finished cleaning up our City's top tourist destination!

Interceptor 007 Will Be Permanent!
The L.A. County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the Interceptor 007 as a long-term project! Since its launch in October 2022, this innovative trash collection device has captured over 248,000 pounds of debris, including nearly 3,000 pounds of recyclable plastic, keeping our vulnerable bodies of water cleaner and reducing pollution in our oceans. We are so glad it will be a permanent tool in our fight to keep plastic and garbage out of the ocean and off the beach! A big thanks to Supervisor Holly Mitchell and Friends of the Jungle for their work and advocacy to make this happen!

90 Freeway Encampment Clearance
We have been increasingly concerned about the growing encampments on and along the 90 Freeway. Due to the dangerous freeway and fire conditions - including more than 50 homeless-related calls to LAFD in 2022-2023 alone - I submitted a letter to Governor Newsom and Caltrans, highlighting the 90 Freeway as a priority area for addressing homeless encampments. Although we have more work ahead to fully secure the area and address multiple safety hazards, we are incredibly grateful to the State for the swift intervention and cooperation.
