October 18, 2024

This past weekend I had the honor of joining the Los Angeles Fire Department, the LAFD Historical Society and LAFD members, family and friends at the Annual LAFD Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony. It was a deeply moving tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the 279 first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice for our city and its residents. I’m incredibly grateful for their dedication to keeping the City of Los Angeles safe and for the families who stand behind them.

I recently had the opportunity to tour the Lumina permanent supportive housing project and meet the management and supportive services teams from Solari and The People Concern dedicated to helping the residents. I also met with a resident who, before moving in, hadn't had a place of their own to call home for over a decade. Witnessing the dedication of everyone involved in creating supportive environments that empower residents and promote long-term stability was truly heartening. Equally important is the commitment and partnership to addressing the surrounding community’s needs, ensuring that our efforts contribute to a thriving neighborhood for all.
