LA Dodgers Win The World Series!
What a week in baseball! The energy and excitement across Los Angeles was palpable as our beloved Dodgers clinched the World Series. On Friday, I joined Dodger fans from all over the world at Dodger Stadium to celebrate this historic win. The energy and pride in the crowd showed just how much this team means to our City and fans everywhere. A  HUGE thank you to LAPD, Department of Transportation, and other City departments for ensuring the parade and party at Dodger Stadium went down safely!
Expanding The Hollywood Economy
Los Angeles is the entertainment industry capital of the world, providing hundreds of thousands of jobs, generating billions of dollars in revenue, and attracting tourists and visitors from around the world. But following the pandemic shutdowns and a slow recovery after the labor strikes last year, LA's film and television industry continue to struggle, which has impacted many families and businesses on the Westside and across the City. I am grateful to Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass for their work to expand our tax credit system so we can keep that industry right here in LA and stay competitive with other markets outside of California.

Update On Judge Carter’s VA Housing Mandate
My team and I continue to monitor the developments on the VA lawsuit. The VA intends to appeal Judge Carter's decision mandating additional housing development on campus, a process that will likely take many months. Judge Carter will allow Brentwood School to continue shared use of the VA land with expansion of hours and facilities devoted to veterans. He will also allow UCLA to remain at Jackie Robinson Stadium through next July while the parties continue to work on a solution.

We must ensure that our veterans have the support and dignity they deserve, and we appreciate the time and care all parties are taking with this opportunity. In the meantime, we will continue working with the Brentwood community to ensure participation on the path forward.

Remembering Sarah Alden

All of us still carry the devastation from attacks in the Venice Canals earlier this year. Last Sunday, I sat down with neighbors to remember the victims and the importance of working together to improve safety on the Westside. Thank you to Renee for graciously hosting us, and to Ramon for capturing such beautiful moments from our candlelight vigil.

Putting A Lid On Illegal Bonfires
Last night, I joined our partners from LAPD, LA City Fire, LA County Beaches & Harbors, and LA County Lifeguards to kick off a coordinated effort to tackle illegal bonfires on Dockweiler and Playa del Rey beaches. We are grateful for this cross-jurisdictional effort to protect our community and coastline!
Celebrating Progress On The Westside
It was an honor to host incoming LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell on the Westside and introduce him to some of our community members and talk about his vision and priorities around public safety. We are so excited to have him return to LAPD, and we welcome his partnership in restoring police resources in Los Angeles.
CD11 Celebrates Halloween!
The Westside was brimming with spooky-season pride, from the Boo on Purdue to the Oxford Triangle Spooktacular! It was so fun checking out all the incredible costumes and festivities in our local parks and block parties across the Westside. We can't wait to do it all again next year!
Innovation Is Coming To The Old Venice Library!
Visiting the old Venice Post Office, now being transformed into a modern digital content development space, which will tie modern technology and amenities to Venice's vibrant history. This adaptive reuse project will preserve the building’s original 1930s lobby while bringing state-of-the-art resources to digital creators right on Windward Circle. It’s exciting to see this piece of history evolve into a creative hub, blending the rich legacy of Venice's art and culture with the energy of today’s creative community.
Celebrating Del Rey Day!
"Team Del Rey" was the theme and vibe of this family-packed event, celebrating the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in LA! I had a fantastic time at Del Rey Day, where families enjoyed activities like the dog costume contest and the t-shirt tie-dye station. A special shoutout to 8th grader Ethan for his incredible t-shirt design that truly captured the Olympic spirit!
Temporary Closure At Bill Rosendahl Park
Heads Up! Bill Rosendahl Park is getting new shade structures for everyone to enjoy, with the beams already installed thanks to our friends at Rec & Parks! Final shade installation is set for Thursday, November 7, once the concrete sets. Thanks for your patience as we make this community anchor even better!
Revitalizing The Bundy Triangle!
Congratulations to the West LA Sawtelle Neighborhood Council and the West LA Farmers Market for last Friday’s pop-up market by the Bundy Triangle! For decades, the Triangle has been underutilized, leading to blight and wasting what could be an invaluable public space. But in partnership with the neighborhood council and market, we successfully activated this space for an outstanding community event! I eagerly look forward to continuing this work, because a better Bundy Triangle means a #Better11!
Every week, your CD11 Beautification Team and our City Departments are working all over the Westside to make improvements, big and small. If an area in your neighborhood needs special attention, please contact our Westchester District Office for assistance.
