As we gather to celebrate Thanksgiving today, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible sense of community we share in the One-Five. This holiday is a time to express gratitude, and I am deeply thankful for the dedicated individuals, families, and organizations that make our neighborhoods vibrant and strong.

Mientras nos reunimos hoy para celebrar el Día de Acción de Gracias, quiero tomar un momento para reflexionar sobre el increíble sentido de comunidad que compartimos en el One-Five. Este día feriado es un tiempo para expresar gratitud, y estoy profundamente agradecido por las personas dedicadas, las familias y las organizaciones que hacen que nuestros vecindarios sean vibrantes y fuertes.

Throughout the last week I had the opportunity to attend community-led food giveaways and feasts from Watts to the Waterfront. Union workers, local leaders, community groups and neighbors came together to ensure everyone could enjoy a warm meal. Moments like these remind me of the resilience and compassion that define our communities. They reinforce the belief that the One-Five is truly Stronger Together.

Durante la última semana, tuve la oportunidad de asistir a entregas de alimentos y banquetes comunitarios desde Watts hasta el Waterfront. Trabajadores sindicales, líderes locales, grupos comunitarios y vecinos se unieron para asegurar que todos pudieran disfrutar de una comida caliente. Momentos como estos me recuerdan la resiliencia y la compasión que definen a nuestras comunidades. Refuerzan la creencia de que el One-Five es verdaderamente más fuerte cuando estamos unidos.

As we move into the holiday season, let’s also celebrate the small businesses that are such a vital part of our district. This Small Business Saturday, I encourage everyone to shop local and support the entrepreneurs who pour their passion and creativity into our neighborhoods. These businesses not only provide jobs but also bring a unique vibrancy to our community.

Looking ahead, the holidays are a time for connection, and I am thrilled to bring back Winter Wonderlands to each of our five communities for the second year. From sledding to tree lightings, these events are about coming together, sharing joy, and celebrating the spirit of the season that makes the One-Five so special.

Al acercarnos a la temporada navideña, celebremos también a las pequeñas empresas que son una parte vital de nuestro distrito. Este sábado de apoyo a las pequeñas empresas, animo a todos a comprar localmente y a respaldar a los emprendedores que ponen su pasión y creatividad en nuestros vecindarios. Estos negocios no solo proporcionan empleos, sino que también aportan una vibrante singularidad a nuestra comunidad.

Mirando hacia adelante, las fiestas son un tiempo de conexión, y estoy emocionado de traer de vuelta los Winter Wonderlands a cada uno de nuestras cinco comunidades por segundo año.
