This Thanksgiving, my goal was to ensure that no one in the community went without a meal, regardless of their circumstances. This week, my office partnered with Christy's Foundation and LAPD Devonshire PALS to help feed 350 families, totaling 1,750 individuals in our community. Through this collaboration, we were able to provide nutritious and essential items to those who needed it most, ensuring that even more families could celebrate Thanksgiving with dignity and joy.

We continued the spirit of giving by partnering with the North Valley Family YMCA to assemble and distribute a record setting 4,500 Thanksgiving meal bags to families in need. I’m incredibly proud to continue supporting this annual initiative, which grows more impactful every year, helping even more of our neighbors enjoy a joyful holiday meal. I'm grateful for the support of our local organizations and the incredible generosity of everyone involved in making this effort a success.

CD12 COMMUNITY UPDATES

Topanga Canyon Boulevard Lane Closures

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced multiple daytime and nighttime closures of Topanga Canyon Boulevard (State Route 27) in the San Fernando Valley for curb ramp construction.

The daytime closures, Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., will impact the northbound and southbound right lanes of Topanga Canyon Boulevard at the following locations:

Northbound

· Velicata St

· Lopez St

· Celes St

· Martinez St

· De La Guerra St

· Ave San Luis

· Costanso St

· Craggyview St

· Lassen St

· Marilla St

· Plummer St

Southbound

· Lassen St

· Plummer St

· Nordhoff St

Additionally, overnight closures, between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday, will close up to two lanes of northbound and southbound Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Parthenia St and Vanowen St. Follow this link to find out more information.

LAPD Devonshire PALS Youth Center Toy Drive

2025 EmpowerLA Youth Conference

EmpowerLA is hosting a youth conference seeking to motivate young people (ages 14-17) to get involved with the Neighborhood Council system and intentionally shape their personal and professional futures. Conference attendees will have the opportunity to hear from City leaders, attend workshops and panel discussions, and participate in a resource fair with over a dozen City departments and trusted community partners. This conference is free to attend, and breakfast and lunch will be provided to all attendees.

Youth interested in attending the 2025 EmpowerLA Conference will be asked to complete a short application opportunity, and not all applicants will be invited to attend the conference. Applications are due no later than 11:59pm on Friday, December 20th. Click here to find out more.

LA Sanitation Blankets and Socks Drive

From November 4th , 2024 through January 3rd , 2025, the CFRP will be collecting new and gently used (wash and clean) blankets, sleeping bags, and socks. Click here to see drop-off locations.

Bulky Item Drop-Off Events
