This year, we’ve made huge strides to improve our parks across CD11. From the grand reopening of Bill Rosendahl Park’s dog park in Del Rey to new fields and courts in Mar Vista and Westchester, it’s all about creating spaces where our communities can come together. We’ve successfully secured funds for these projects, ensuring these spaces continue to grow and thrive. I’m excited for the opportunities they’ll bring to families, athletes, and neighbors in the years ahead!
Jimmy Kim, General Manager, Recreation and Parks
"The Department of Recreation and Parks sincerely appreciates Councilmember Traci Park's steadfast support and commitment to enhancing our park system for the benefit of Los Angeles residents and visitors. Together, we are making a lasting and meaningful difference in the lives of those she represents.”
Sonya Young Jimenez, Superintendent of Venice Beach and West Region, Recreation and Parks
"Thank you for sharing this wonderful update about the exciting projects in Council District 11. The Department of Recreation and Parks deeply appreciates your unwavering support and dedication to enhancing our communities. We look forward to continuing this partnership as we work to bring even more programs, projects, and a sense of community to the families and individuals who rely on our facilities. Your commitment inspires us, and we are eager to keep building a brighter future for District 11. Thank you for being such a champion for recreation and parks!"
Scott Culbertson, Friends of Ballona Wetlands, Exec. Director
"A few weeks ago we announced the reopening of the Jefferson Trail at the Ballona Freshwater Marsh. While we could dwell on the damage caused by the large RV encampment that prompted this project, what stands out is how our community came together to repair this beautiful stretch of the marsh. This happened because Councilwoman Traci Park kept her campaign promise to return this beautiful space to our community of nature-lovers. We are grateful for your support!"
Jim Evans, Westchester Del Rey Little League, President
"As a long-time Westchester resident, Loyola Marymount University graduate, and president of the Westchester Del Rey Little League, I am committed to initiatives that uplift our community. Lulu’s Place will offer unmatched academic, athletic, and wellness opportunities for local youth and families, inspiring young people to reach their potential and strengthening community bonds. I’m proud to support its mission to create lasting opportunities for Los Angeles."
John Sharpe, Westchester YMCA, Board Chair
"As a 31-year Westchester resident and Board Chair of the Westchester Family YMCA, I’m excited to see Lulu’s Place come to life. Westchester needs more green space and recreation facilities, and this project will provide that and more. Its mission aligns with the YMCA’s focus on building stronger communities through connection, play, and growth. We look forward to partnering with Lulu’s Place to serve Westchester and the surrounding areas."
Tom Brewster, Westchester LA Pickleball Club, Founder
"We are so proud and excited to report that Westchester Park is operating at full speed ahead on all levels. Programs at both the Recreation Center and the Senior center have never been better. Soccer, LaCrosse, Baseball/Softball are all going strong. Tennis is booming and Pickleball is up to over 2500 players per month. It’s a wonderful time to be at Westchester Park."
Pacific Palisades Community Members
Pacific Palisades lacked an official dog park for years, until Leslie Campbell, Lynn Hylen Miller, and Carol Ross took on the challenge. With strong community support, the Pacific Palisades Community Council, and guidance from Councilmember Traci Park, their efforts made this dream a reality. This project wouldn’t have been possible without Traci’s leadership in securing LA Rec & Parks’ approval of Measure A Funds.
This milestone showcases the power of community collaboration, and the new dog park will be a cherished space for residents and their pets. Thanks to Traci Park, Michael Amster, and the CD11 team—we’ll see you at the dog park!
Shane Barach, North Venice Little League, President
"Traci Park and office, thank you so much for securing funding for our field upgrades at North Venice. Without your support we would not have been able to complete the work on our premiere field in 2024!"
Jennie Tucker & Alex Kissin, Co-Founders of Venice Insider Pass
"The disappearance of Windward Playground was a pivotal point for us as a family and as members of this vibrant community. Its absence was the catalyst for us to engage more deeply with our neighborhood, ultimately leading to the creation of Venice Insider Pass—a way to help Venetians connect, support local businesses, and strengthen the bonds that make this place so special. Seeing the playground set to return in Spring 2025 is a testament to what we can achieve together as a community, and we’re grateful to Traci Park and her team for making this essential project a priority!"
