This week, we concluded our Winter Wonderland series, and I couldn’t be more proud of the incredible events that brought us together throughout the district. In Harbor City and Harbor Gateway, residents enjoyed sledding, train rides, ornament making, performances, and treelightings. I also had the privilege of delivering cookies to our hardworking LAFD firefighters in Watts, Harbor Gateway, and Wilmington, and I’ll be visiting stations in Harbor City and San Pedro next week to thank these women and men who continue to serve and protect us year-round. |

Additionally, I attended toy giveaways that brought smiles to the faces of children, and celebrated the holidays with our beloved Wilmington seniors at a senior dance. It’s been a truly heartwarming week. Yesterday, I also joined Meals on Wheels to distribute food to seniors in San Pedro, ensuring our neighbors who need extra support were able to enjoy a holiday meal.
The generosity, kindness, and willingness to lend a hand to those in need are what make the One-Five thrive. We are Stronger Together. I’m proud to work alongside so many of you, and I look forward to continuing our efforts to uplift and strengthen our community in the year ahead. |

These councils play a key role in Los Angeles City governance, offering residents a voice on issues like public safety, transportation, homelessness, and land use. On Wednesday, we hosted the 4th Winter Wonderland event in our 2024 series, featuring a special celebration at Ken Malloy Park in Harbor City. Families enjoyed snow runs, a tree lighting, train rides through the park, Santa, a showing of The Polar Express, and festive activities like cookie decorating, writing letters to Santa, and ornament decorating. Thank you to Rec & Parks, the Harbor City Neighborhood Council, and all our sponsors, vendors, and volunteers for collaborating with us to make this magical event possible. |

I was proud to assist with the 4th Annual Holiday Tree Giveaway, hosted by the Harbor City Food Pantry and sponsored through a Neighborhood Purpose Grant from the Harbor City Neighborhood Council. On Saturday, we distributed nearly 400 holiday trees to local families, spreading joy and holiday spirit throughout the community. |

Connie and I had a wonderful time at the Green Meadows Santa Party with LAFD. It was heartwarming to connect with neighbors and LAFD members, and seeing the children’s excitement as they greeted Santa and explored the fire truck was truly unforgettable. |

Last night marked the conclusion of our 2024 Winter Wonderland series, ending with our beloved Harbor Gateway community. The first-ever Harbor Gateway Winter Wonderland at Normandale Park showcased snow sleds, arts and crafts, vendor booths, and festive entertainment. The evening featured performances by local cheer teams, young musicians, and concluded with a joyful tree-lighting ceremony. Special thanks to our sponsors, Recreation and Parks, and the many volunteers who made this incredible night possible. |

KIDS ARE 1ST CAR SEAT GIVEAWAY |

Kids Are 1st is an organization that promotes car seat safety and provides car seats to families. This past weekend, they hosted a car seat safety check in collaboration with LAPD South Traffic Division. WARNER GRAND RENOVATION BEGINS |

I was thrilled to temporarily dim the lights of the Warner Grand Theatre on Tuesday as we launched the contract to renovate this historic venue. This space holds a special place in McOsker family history—it’s where my parents first met—and I know it’s deeply cherished by many Harbor Area residents. It was truly special as our community came together for a final walk-through and ceremony before the fencing goes up and contractors begin this exciting stage of work. I look forward to celebrating with everyone again in 2026 at the grand reopening of this beloved space. Thank you to the Department of Cultural Affairs, Bureau of Engineering, Board of Public Works, and especially the Grand Vision Foundation for your partnership! |

CHRISTMAS DINNER AT SACRED GROUNDS |

Although the Warner Grand has closed, we were still able to host Chef Tracey’s Christmas Community Dinner at Sacred Grounds on Thursday evening. Chef Tracey prepares a delicious feast complete with all the fixings and desserts, welcoming everyone to Sacred Grounds to share a meal together. Over the years, this gathering has become a cherished holiday tradition in Downtown San Pedro. |

MEALS ON WHEELS DELIVERY WITH SANTA |

It was great fun to join Santa Claus (Ken Creighton) and Anthony Pirozzi today in delivering warm meals to Meals on Wheels recipients throughout the San Pedro area. Meals on Wheels provides nourishing food at a minimal cost to individuals who are unable to cook, drive, shop, or leave their homes for temporary or extended periods. This past Saturday we were able to assist in the Miracle on Wilmington event at the Mafundi Parking Lot. TDD Supportive Living Inc. sponsored the event filled with community organizations and mental health resources to come together for a family fun filled day. We distributed gifts for all ages as well as clothing and meals. We appreciate all the hard work that went into making this event possible. |

WINTER CAMP AT 109TH PARK |

This Wednesday, we had the opportunity to participate in the Winter Camp Christmas Celebration at 109th Park. We assisted with the Christmas Breakfast, and the children enjoyed a beautiful day, which included a surprise visit from Santa, gifts, followed by dodgeball and other festivities. |

This Thursday, I shared a meal with our seniors at the Nickerson Gardens Sage Center. Thank you to HACLA and the Management Office at Nickerson Gardens for inviting us, and providing the space for our seniors to celebrate the holiday season and enjoy a meal together. |

I had the pleasure of attending the Rotary’s 32nd Annual Christmas Feast at the Wilmington Senior Citizens Center. It was a heartwarming event that offered a delicious holiday meal and a special toy distribution for the community. Attendees also enjoyed festive photos with Santa, adding an extra touch of joy to the occasion. |

I attended the 3rd Annual Merry Cemetery Holiday Pop-Up event on Saturday. This festive occasion featured approximately 20 vendors offering unique holiday items. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus posed for photos with the community near the beautifully decorated tree, adding a magical touch to the celebration! |

COMIENZA LA GRAN RENOVACIÓN DE WARNER |

Me emocionó poder atenuar temporalmente las luces del Warner Grand Theatre el martes cuando lanzamos el contrato para renovar este lugar histórico. Este espacio ocupa un lugar especial en la historia de la familia McOsker (es donde mis padres se conocieron) y sé que muchos residentes del área del puerto lo aprecian profundamente. Fue realmente especial cuando nuestra comunidad se reunió para un recorrido final y una ceremonia antes de que se levantara la cerca y los contratistas comenzaran esta emocionante etapa de trabajo. El Sábado pasado pudimos ayudar en el evento Miracle on Wilmington en el estacionamiento de Mafundi.
