We made it through the storm, but there was a lot of flooding and mud flow. PCH remains closed from the Palisades to Malibu, and crews continue fixing ruptured water mains and other problems. We are all worried about all the filthy water that made its way from across the entire region, including the toxic burn scars, and right to the ocean.
We have a long road ahead, but my focus is on delivering real solutions – reducing delay and bureaucracy and strengthening public safety so families and businesses can return faster.
And, on Friday, I introduced a motion to tackle the growing crisis of inoperable, broken, and stolen fire hydrants across Los Angeles – a safety crisis that demands urgent action. The Palisades Fire underscored the life-or-death importance of fully operational hydrants and water systems during emergencies. We can’t afford delays. That’s why I’m calling on LAFD and LADWP to assess all hydrants city-wide and accelerate repairs, prevent theft, and strengthen emergency readiness.
My team and I will keep pushing for a recovery that prioritizes efficiency, safety, and high-functioning infrastructure. If we can be of service, please reach out.
