Confronting the RV Crisis
For those who may have missed it, the LA Times published a column this week titled, "Enough is enough. Why RV encampments might finally start disappearing in L.A."  The column emphasizes the urgent need to confront and address the crisis of oversize vehicle dwelling in our city, which has created a host of impacts.

This includes illegal dumping in storm drains, removing parking in already parking poor communities, and potential crime and fire risks.

I want you to know that my team and I are actively working to respond to these concerns. This week alone, we successfully removed several RVs near an elementary school - an approach I’m hoping to make a Citywide policy by restricting oversize vehicle dwelling around sensitive use sites like schools, parks and residential areas. Other legislative actions include my “van lord” motion, which seeks to prohibit the sale and leasing of RVs on public streets. Unanimously passed by the City Council, the ordinance is now being drafted by the City Attorney. I recognize the importance of tangible change, and I assure you, we are working to bring meaningful results.

2023 Tourism Forecast
This week, I had the honor of addressing over 400 business and community leaders at the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board's (LATCB) 2023 Market Outlook Forum. We talked about topics ranging from tourism impact and recovery progress to economic projections and LATCB's promotional tactics. In my capacity as Chair of Trade, Travel, and Tourism, I highlighted the significance of tourism for Los Angeles and talked about the possible expansion of the LA Convention Center to enhance our city's competitive edge as a prime destination.
A Busy Weekend
There's a lot happening in the district this weekend, and I'd love for you to join me!

Today, I'll be leading a coastal cleanup day at Venice Pier, in collaboration with Heal the Bay's Coastal Cleanup initiative. Following that, I'll be attending the WAM Block Party in Westchester. On Sunday, don't miss the Abbot Kinney Festival. My office is deeply committed to community engagement and is thrilled to be actively involved in these events this weekend and beyond. The details for each event are below.

Let’s Go Green Together! In alignment with the event’s ethos, we encourage everyone to bring their own reusable water bottle to minimize waste.

This week's Park's Pick shines a spotlight on a local gem - the Killer Hair salon! Nominated by our very own community members, it stands out as a cherished neighborhood go-to. Heather Collins, the passionate owner, founded Killer Hair with a dual mission in mind: providing stylists a fantastic work environment and offering clients top-notch services. Celebrate local and check it out!

I recently visited Killer Hair, and they truly live up to their name!
