City Of Los Angeles Delegation To Washington, DC

It was an honor to be part of an historic delegation with our Mayor and my Council colleagues to Washington, DC. With unprecedented efforts underway to address homelessness, housing, mobility, sustainability, and economic development, the purpose of the trip was to advocate for more federal funding and resources to the City of Los Angeles.

Our delegation met with many federal officials, but some of my personal highlights were discussing transportation, infrastructure, and the 2028 Olympics with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, delving into public safety and security around LAX and the Port of Los Angeles with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and talking with VA Secretary Dennis McDonough about housing and supportive services for our local veterans here in Los Angeles. I even got to spend some time with one of my personal inspirations, Senator Amy Klobuchar!

I Stand With My Community
When I first heard of the proposal to demolish the Marina Freeway, the first thing I wanted to do was hear from you. This is why I created a public survey for community members to share their thoughts about the proposal. After hearing your feedback, the results are clear: the 11th District does not support the demolition of the 90 Freeway. Your voice is why Mayor Bass rescinded her initial support and now opposes the study and demolition of the freeway. I’m thankful to every community member who made their voice heard. Your participation always matters
Important Roadwork
Here are some important roadwork updates that may impact your commute!

The city will be working on curb and gutter repairs in the 8000 block of S. Vista del Mar in Playa del Rey. The southbound slow lane on Vista del Mar will be closed intermittently for that work next week. The city will also continue its work on Temescal Canyon Road in the Palisades, with construction expected to be completed next month.

Heal The Bay Day!
It was an honor to host Heal the Bay in Council Chambers on Friday, which we formally declared as Heal the Bay Day in the City of Los Angeles!
Heal the Bay needs little introduction on the westside. Their work is dedicated to making the coastal waters and watersheds in greater Los Angeles safe, healthy, and clean. They use science, education, community action, and advocacy to fulfill their mission to protect coastal waters and watersheds in Southern California. I'm honored to have them as part of our community, and I look forward to collaborating further in the coming days.
