Dear Friends and Neighbors:
Earlier this month, I had the honor of joining the Mayor and my Council colleagues on a delegation to Washington, DC to advocate for more resources and funding for Los Angeles to address homelessness, housing, climate justice, workers’ rights, and more.
We met with many federal partners, discussing bus, bike, and first/last mile infrastructure and our Reconnecting MacArthur Park project with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, talking about federal resources needed to address the opioid crisis with Senator Bernie Sanders, advocating for easing of certification requirements for rental assistance and to expand veteran eligibility for housing vouchers with HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge, requesting increased federal funding to combat wage theft with Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su, and more. | | The next week is filled with events across the district! Bring your family and friends and stop by halloween carnivals, Trunk or Treats, pumpkin patches, movie nights and more.
In solidarity and gratitude,
Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez | | |

| We hosted our first-ever Música y Poemas festival at Sycamore Grove Park! It was a special day that would not have been successful without the co-sponsorship of the Department of Recreation and Parks and the Department of Cultural Affairs, the performers and our MC Mala Muñoz, the City and community organizations who tabled, the vendors, the volunteers, and everyone who showed up to celebrate the rich culture of our district and the joy of gathering together.
We look forward to hosting more events in the future that continue to utilize our public spaces, create more resource hubs, empower our local businesses, and connect our neighborhoods so that the communities in our district are equipped with the tools they need to thrive. | | Over the last few weeks, Councilmember Hernandez has also celebrated with the Lincoln Heights community the re-opening of the Lincoln Heights Senior Center, joined Franklin High School and Sotomayor High School for football games, and participated in the Dia de los Muertos Community Procession in the Cypress Park neighborhood. |
