In celebration of National Clergy Appreciation Month, the City Council honored a clergy member from each Council District.

I was honored to host Rabbi Yossi Spritzer in Council Chambers as our representative for CD12. Rabbi Spritzer has been a beacon of hope and support for the community in times of both happiness and hardship. Through the various programs offered by Chabad of Chatsworth, he has touched the lives of numerous community members of all ages. Since 2002, Rabbi Spritzer has dedicated his life to his faith and community. I appreciate his continued leadership and, most importantly, his friendship.

Shepherd Church invites you to come celebrate fall with fun for the whole family! Enjoy hay rides, a petting zoo, a pumpkin patch, and candy for everyone.

The beloved Chatsworth staple Los Toros is hosting the ‘Tormenta de Cuernos” horror maze at the restaurant from 6pm-11pm this weekend.

The highly anticipated and famous West Hills Halloween Houses are on display now through October 31st. Residents and visitors are invited to come gaze at these terrifying creations that have been meticulously crafted to capture the essence of Halloween. United to House Los Angeles Emergency Renters Assistance Program (ULA ERAP)

The City of Los Angeles United to House Los Angeles (ULA) Emergency Renters Assistance Program landlord application is open now and closes on October 31, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. This application portal is only for landlords who own 12 or fewer units. To be eligible, the rental property must be located in the City of Los Angeles. The ULA ERAP will provide up to six months of rental arrears to low-income residential renters who are at risk of homelessness due to unpaid rent as a result of COVID-19 or other ﬁnancial hardship. Rental arrears will only be provided to landlords on behalf of tenants that meet the ULA ERAP eligibility criteria. Click here to learn more.

Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month! This celebration was established in 1981 by American Humane to help the millions of animals living in shelters find their forever home. To encourage the community to adopt and welcome a canine friend into their home, LA Animal Services is reducing adoption fees for dogs to $51 and down to $75 for puppies. Fees for cat adoptions are also reduced to $12.50, and down to $25 for kittens. Those interested in adopting can take advantage of these reduced fees on October 28 & 29 for Howl-o-ween Adoption Weekend. Click here to search through available pets.

USGBC-LA Environmental Justice Project

The 2024 Environmental Justice Project seeks exceptional initiatives driving sustainability in local communities across the greater Los Angeles region. Whether in resilience, health, or conservation innovation, this is your chance to make a difference. Be part of our legacy of collaboration with local organizations dedicated to community betterment. We invite you to submit a proposal! The selected project secures $20,000 in funding and expert support from our wide network of professionals. LA Sanitation and Environment’s Blanket and Sock Drive
LA Sanitation and Environment is collecting new and gently used (washed and cleaned) blankets, sleeping bags, and socks. Donated items will be provided to the Livability Services Division of LA Sanitation and Environment, LA Mission, and the St. Francis Center.
VFW Essay Competitions
The Veterans of Foreign Wars invites students to participate in essay contests and share their writings on two themes, “My Pledge to Our Veterans” and “Why is the Veteran Important?” Click here for more information on the competitions.
