Whānau News: 17 November 2023

Kia Ora Church Whanau,

We had a wonderful Women’s event last Saturday night. A big thank you to Kylie and all involved in that evening, and thank you to everyone who came. It was so great to gather together again.
The theme was ‘Come to the Table’ and Theresa sung an amazing song that really highlighted to me the rich friendship we can have with God. We are all invited to the table of friendship with God. This is where we can be real with God and share what’s on our hearts. It is where we are accepted and loved in our realness. It is a place where God can speak to us, bring healing and fresh perspectives to our lives. God wants to be our friend.
Throughout the Bible we see accounts of how valuable friendships are. We all need great friendships that love and value each other. Godly friendships that allow us to champion each other on in our faith through the good and bad times and have fun together. I love the truth that God gives us friendships as an extension of His love here on earth.
God wants to use us to be a great friend, to be a blessing through friendship.
God wants to bless us with His friendship.

With love and Blessings
Penny

God is Constant / Josh van de Worp
Change is happening all around us. In our homes, in our community and in our church. But we can trust in the fact that our God and his promises are the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Join us at 10AM in-person or online.  Unfortunately we are aware that Covid is on the rise again. We would love to have you join us online for the service if you are not able or unwell. Please contact us if you need support staff@fbc.nz
For the Kids...
Wonder Kids (Preschool Programme): This week we continue our "Parade of Thanks" theme with a focus on I can thank God for food, looking at the story of Manna and Quail in Exodus 16.
Discovery Kids (Primary Programme): We are continuing our "Shout out! who have you thanked today?" focus.  This week we are looking at the story where Jesus heals 10 men in Luke 17:11-19 with the emphasis on taking time to say thank you.
FBI (Intermediate Programme): This week the intermediates are starting their first week of a series looking at Christmas.  This week the they are looking at how Jesus' birth is good news because it means God is with us.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
Steve Clark and Family farewell lunch
Please join us after the service for a shared lunch to farewell Steve and Lynley Clark. Please bring a plate of food to share that's enough for you and your family and a little more.
Prayer at 5pm
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. Eph. 1:17
As a church fellowship, we need to declare Christ as the Head of our Fellowship and seek His direction and enablement for our church, so that we can be in step with His will.
We meet at 5pm on a Sunday in the church prayer area to do just that, to connect with Jesus, who brings life to us individually and fruitful life to our fellowship. We would love to have you join us!
Garden Party
The garden party was due to be this weekend, 18th November.  After consultation with the hosts, the catering team and musical set up people, it has been decided to postpone the event due to the likelihood of showers on Saturday afternoon. New date will be notified soon.
Pastoral Search Update
We continue to thank you for your prayers for the Search committee as we seek a new pastor. As you can appreciate, the task is a difficult one. There are more pastoral vacancies within the Baptist churches of New Zealand than people available. We have had some applicants and continue working with a couple of potential candidates.
Prayer for Israel and the Palestinian territories
The Baptist World Alliance, along with Baptist churches in Israel and Palestine are asking us to join with them in prayer over the recent conflict in the region.  They have sent us some prayer points to help us pray effectively.  You can find their prayer points here.
Global Action Team (GAT) Calendars
Our GAT team are preparing calendars to send to our global partners. Please stop by the table in the foyer on Sunday to write a short greeting, verse, or word of encouragement on the calendars we will send to our cross-cultural workers overseas. Your notes will be a great blessing to them throughout 2024.
Oasis
We will be meeting again on Wednesday at 10am.  All are welcome! It would be appreciated, as always, if you are able to bring a food item towards morning tea. For more information contact Charlie Potter. 027 529 8211
