Join Us At The Brentwood Wildfire Fair!

Last weekend, much of our district was under a red flag warning due to the Santa Ana wind event. Multiple wildfires ignited across the greater L.A. area, and while CD11 avoided any major incidents this time, much of our district is at high risk for wildfires.

Being proactive and well-informed is absolutely crucial. If you live in a hillside or canyon community, please join us on Sunday, November 5th from 12-3:00 PM at the Brentwood School East Campus, 100 S. Barrington Place, for the Brentwood Wildfire Fair. Get equipped with the knowledge and tools you need to stay ready for wildfires and other natural disasters.

Turn And Test!

Daylight saving time ends on November 5, which means it's time to turn your clocks back and test your smoke alarms!

Home fires claim more lives every year than all natural disasters combined, but working smoke alarms can cut your risk in half. Visit redcross.org/fire for more information, including how to create an escape plan.

Hotel Ballot Measure

This week, I joined a motion that would effectively remove the “Responsible Hotel Ordinance” from the March 2024 ballot. This proposed ballot measure would have essentially mandated hotels with vacancies to house homeless people, without security or services and at taxpayer expense, alongside hotel guests. Instead, our City Council motion creates a voluntary system for hotels and motels who want to participate.

While we need to be creative about solving homelessness, and the use of hotels as interim housing is one approach we are already implementing, we can’t kill our local businesses, either. Our City Council motion is a far more responsible approach, so I’m hopeful a majority of my colleagues will join us in protecting our tourism economy, which generates over $350 million in revenue to the City’s general fund every year. Yes, that’s right - the hotel industry actually funds essential services like sanitation, public safety, and street repairs.
