Dear Friends and Neighbors:

The holiday season is upon us! Check out our December holiday calendar that is full of events happening in neighborhoods throughout the District. I hope you’ll stop by to enjoy these fun holiday activities with your friends and family.

In solidarity and gratitude,

Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez

Over the last two weeks, Councilmember Hernandez and #TeamCD1 joined community partners across the District for food distributions in Chinatown, Westlake, Glassell Park, Lincoln Heights, and Pico-Union! We’re grateful to our partners at LA Conservation Corps, Central City Neighborhood Partners, and the many community organizations and volunteers who shared their time and resources to these events a success.

Earlier this week, community members in Cypress Park joined us to tour a new interim housing site opening in CD1. Northeast New Beginnings is a first-of-its-kind interim housing model that will provide critical services for up to 95 unhoused Angelenos experiencing homelessness in our neighborhoods.

Our partners at LAHSA and other outreach teams are already developing a plan that focuses on the areas around the site to identify unhoused neighbors who are interested in coming indoors.

There is no issue in Los Angeles more urgent than our housing and homelessness crisis, and we will continue to work toward bringing more resources like Northeast New Beginnings online so that we can approach the crisis in a way that prioritizes the health, safety, and wellbeing of all of our CD1 constituents.

For more information about the project, check out a video recap here.
