This Thanksgiving I would like to share my deep appreciation for my family, staff, and community. As I reflect on the work of the last year, I am reminded that no journey can be accomplished alone and I am immensely thankful for the inspiration, support, and guidance I find in these three pillars. In my family I find support and love that keeps me going day in and day out. In my staff I find the dedication and knowledge that moves my hand to make the best decisions for our district and city, and in the community I find countless individuals who selflessly serve, help each other and always come together in times of need.

I thank you for the honor of serving as your Councilmember, and I wish you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.

CD12 COMMUNITY UPDATES

CSUN Porter Ranch Resiliency Survey

CSUN has put together a survey to understand the community’s view on the indicators students have been working on for the resilience planning process. Every year graduate students collaborate with a local community to prepare a resilience plan for that neighborhood. They have previously worked with the communities of Northridge, Chatsworth, Pacoima, Sylmar, North Hills East, and North Hills West. This year they are preparing a resilience plan for Porter Ranch. Take Action LA Community Grants

The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) and CalMHSA are seeking mission-driven partners for May 2024 to enhance mental health awareness and well-being in the community. Grants will support diverse and innovative organizations in organizing events that align with LACDMH's Take Action LA for Mental Health campaign. These grants, ranging from $25,000 to $150,000, aim to promote mental health awareness, community connections, and a theme of taking action for oneself, others, and the community.

Everything an organization needs to apply is located in the CalMHSA Bonfire procurement portal at https://calmhsa.bonfirehub.com/. Applications are due on December 1, 2023, at 5 p.m. PST.

Microenterprise Recovery Grants

Applications for round 2 of the "Microenterprise Recovery” grant program are now open! Grants of up to $5,000 are available for eligible microenterprises in the City of LA that need financial assistance recovering from COVID-19. To apply visit: bit.ly/MicroenterpriseGrant. If you need assistance with the application process, contact your local BusinessSource Center. Application closes on 12/10 at 11:59 PM (PST)!

Project Care

The Los Angeles Department of Aging has brought back its Project Care initiative which aims to bring joy to older adults during the holiday season. The department seeks your assistance in helping them provide necessities during the festive months. All you have to do is either donate through Amazon or give a donation through PayPal and Project Care will do the rest.

Traffic Advisory on Reseda from Parthenia St. to Victory Blvd.
The Bureau of Street Services will be conducting work along Reseda Blvd for multiple weeks and work is scheduled to be completed on 12/6. Please look for alternative routes as traffic will be impacted.

LA Sanitation and Environment’s Blanket and Sock Drive
LA Sanitation and Environment is collecting new and gently used (washed and cleaned) blankets, sleeping bags, and socks. Donated items will be provided to the Livability Services Division of LA Sanitation and Environment, LA Mission, and the St. Francis Center.
