Giving Tuesday has been called “the world’s largest generosity movement.”
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are about things. Giving Tuesday is about giving back.

You may choose to support all the programs of the Conservation Foundation or you may decide to support a local conservation program of your choice.
Please let us know, in the text field box of the form, which local conservation project or program you are supporting with your donation.

Donate to Pedestrian Walkway at Bayfield River Flats
Help connect the community with nature through your donation to a new pedestrian walkway at Bayfield River Flats Natural Area.
A new walkway means people can walk from Bayfield to the natural area without having to cross the highway.
The Bayfield River Valley Trail Association, on behalf of Huron Tract Land Trust Conservancy, is hoping to raise $52,000 this year to make the new walkway possible.
Help create a walkway to the finish line of the Bayfield River Flats Natural Area project.

Donate to have trees planted
Every tree that’s planted makes a difference.
Trees can clean air and water, provide habitat for birds, capture carbon, and reduce erosion.
When you donate to tree planting, we will plant trees on your behalf.
|
|
The Conservation Foundation has six Commemorative Woods where trees are planted as living memorials to those we hold forever in our hearts.
Donations to the Commemorative Woods sites help fund perpetual care of these areas of habitat enhancement and remembrance of loved ones.

Local trails provide locations to enjoy nature and improve physical health and mental well-being through outdoor recreation.
When you support local trails and/or conservation areas you are supporting eco-system health and human health.

Donate to South Huron Trail
There are two sections to the South Huron Trail.
In 2024, the community will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the MacNaughton-Morrison Section of the South Huron Trail.
The MacNaughton-Morrison Trail is a community success story thanks to local landowners and generous donors.
You are invited to donate to the South Huron Trail to provide nature appreciation and physical and mental health benefits through outdoor recreation.
You are also invited to donate to the South Huron Trail Mobile, which gives a nature appreciation experience to people with limited mobility, who could not have this nature experience otherwise.

Donate to enhance wetlands and to build habitat for turtles and other species at risk
Our turtle species are at risk.
They need wetland habitat.
Wetlands provide habitat for these and other animals and provide ecological benefits, including water quality, for all living things.

Donate to educate young people through local conservation education
Help develop the stewards of tomorrow.
Young people are our future.
Conservation education fosters a love for nature and helps young people be active outdoors, interact with nature, and know the actions they can take to protect and improve their watershed.
Children and youths grow their understanding of and appreciation for nature and learn about how to protect and enhance water, soil and habitat for all living things.
Conservation education is effective. It is one of the best ways to create positive change to the benefit of our watershed resources.

Donate to Rock Glen Conservation Area and Arkona Lions Museum and Information Centre
Rock Glen Conservation Area (RGCA) in Arkona attracts thousands of people each year.
This really is a jewel in the watershed.
A partnership with Arkona Lions Club makes it possible to have the learning destination of Arkona Lions Museum and Information Centre at the conservation area.

|
Donate to Watershed Environmental Monitoring
Monitoring matters.
Monitoring water quality and the presence and absence of species tells us about the long-term health of Lake Huron and our creeks and rivers, groundwater and more.
Understanding the state of our watershed resources helps us to be strategic about where we take action – including areas of good water quality needing protection and areas of poor water quality needing remediation.

Give Green Gifts this holiday season
What do you give to that person who has everything? How about the gift of nature
Local conservation foundation encourages you to consider green gifts as alternative in 2023 during gift-giving season
Looking for alternative gift ideas this holiday season? Consider ‘green gifts’ such as donation to trails, the Pedestrian Walkway at Bayfield River Flats, conservation education, tree planting or habitat.
Are you struggling to find gift ideas for your loved ones as the holiday season nears? A local charity asks you to consider ‘green’ gifts in 2023.
Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation (ABCF) offers a number of gift ideas. These ‘alternative gifts’ range from certificates for donations to trails or conservation areas, conservation education, wetlands as habitat for turtles, a new Pedestrian Walkway at Bayfield River Flats, tree planting or another conservation program of your choice. You could buy someone a certificate for a snowshoe rental or you could donate to the South Huron Trail Mobile. There are lots of programs that can benefit from your support.
A present doesn’t have to have wrapping paper, bows, and ribbons to be a gift, according to the Conservation Foundation. Anyone purchasing a ‘gift to nature’ receives a gift certificate (your choice of paper or email) they can give to the present’s recipient. In the case of donations, the purchaser can receive a charitable gift receipt for income tax purposes.
Dave Frayne is Chair of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation. He said giving certificates or donations is thinking ‘outside of the box.’
“If you are looking for something different to give as a present this year, consider the gift of nature, the gift of community,” he said. “We have a number of green gift ideas to suit the person receiving the gift.”
Another benefit of ecological gifts, according to the Conservation Foundation, is there’s no need to use a lot of wrapping paper or tape when you give one of these presents. This reduces waste. “People appreciate knowing that the gift they receive is making a difference to their community,” he said.
Donating to this registered Canadian charity before the end of the 2023 calendar year may provide benefits at tax time. Donations of more than $20 are eligible to receive a charitable gift receipt for income tax purposes.
To donate now, or to order one of these special ‘gifts of nature’ and ‘gifts to your community,’ you may email info@abca.ca or call 519-235-2610 or toll-free 1-888-286-2610.
