This Week's Legislative Update

It was another big week at City Hall! We took action to support our restaurants by creating a permanent Al Fresco outdoor dining program; protect our critical infrastructure and other sensitive areas from fire risks; and oppose an expansive digital board initiative. The Westside is open for Business
We are excited to welcome the Banc of California to CD11! Their new corporate office in Brentwood will serve as a hub for new businesses, investment, and jobs to benefit our entire City. I am thankful to Mayor Bass for her continued leadership, partnership, and dedicated efforts to ensure the growth of our local economy.

Our Veterans Resource Fair Was A Huge Success!
On Thursday, CD11 joined forces with New Directions for Veterans, numerous City Departments, and government partners to host our first annual Veteran’s Resource Fair at the VA campus in West LA. We helped nearly 200 veterans with groceries, gift cards, clothes, and other essentials, and we made dozens of referrals for housing, career opportunities, legal assistance, financial services, and healthcare benefits. We visited with our friends from Mission I’m Possible, an incredible program where military veterans coach and mentor foster youth, and attendees were treated to a special performance by the Oaxacan folklore group, Grupo Folklorico Guishbac.
As the proud daughter of a U.S. Army veteran, I’m fully committed to uplifting and connecting veterans to the housing, services, and essential resources they deserve.

The Holidays are Here!
We’ve had so much fun celebrating the year-end holidays across CD11! We were so proud to partner with the Venice Chamber of Commerce for the annual Venice Sign Lighting, where I was honored to present the Venice Hero of the Year Award to LA firefighter, Mo Nabhani. Not only is Mo a Venice local, he serves our community right out of Fire Station 63. We are so grateful for his service, and to the Venice community for supporting this wonderful event!
I also got to help light the Palisades Village Christmas tree and menorah. A special thank you to Rabbi Zushe and our friends from Chabad of Pacific Palisades for the beautiful Hanukkah service and to the Palisades Village for creating holiday magic for the entire community!
Congrats to the 54 Venice Gondoliers!
It was an honor to join LAUSD Boardmember Nick Melvoin, State Senator Ben Allen, and the Venice Chamber of Commerce Education Committee in congratulating the 54 Venice Gondoliers who earned Jackets of Excellence for academic achievement, attendance, and community service. These young people are our future leaders, innovators, and public servants. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors!
Thank You From The Ballona Wetlands!

On Saturday, more than 100 volunteers joined Friends of Ballona Wetlands and CD11 to replant over 1,000 native seedlings along Jefferson Trail. This restoration work follows our removal of the massive RV encampment that caused extensive damage to our precious wetlands. To prepare for this event, Friends of Ballona Wetlands and EcoKai removed all of the garbage and contaminated topsoil from the Jefferson trail area, replacing it with fresh soil and compost.

We look forward to our continued partnership as our work on the Jefferson Trail Rehabilitation Project continues. Thank you to all of the community members who helped with this critical work.
