Year-round, Council District 12 benefits from the work and advocacy of countless individuals who have the best interest of our community in mind and help deliver critical services.

It was my pleasure, alongside my staff, to host our annual CD12 Holiday Breakfast to show our appreciation for their work. From members of all our City departments to members of local Neighborhood Councils, myriad community organizations, to leaders in our fight against homelessness and food insecurity, this year’s event proved to be the most successful iteration yet.

Having reliable partners who are committed to making our local community and city a better place to live is critical for the success of any council office.

I am humbled by the number of people who attended yesterday’s event as it speaks to the strength of our continued partnerships and collective desire to keep Council District 12 one of the best places to live and work in Los Angeles.

LEGISLATIVE UPDATES

The Largest Solar Farm in the San Fernando Valley

This week, the City Council voted to approve the Valley SOD Farm Solar Project that my office has been working on for many years. Upon completion, this will be the largest solar project in the San Fernando Valley and the largest In-Basin Ground Mount Solar Project in the City of Los Angeles and will generate 12.435 kW of clean energy that will be utilized for 2,500-3,000 homes in the vicinity of the project.

Al Fresco Dining Ordinance

After many months of discussion and work to formalize a program that served as a lifeline for many restaurants in the city of Los Angeles during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Al Fresco Dining program was made permanent for businesses in our city.

Comprehensive Cleaning & Rapid Engagement Vehicle Recycling Program

This week, Council approved my funding request to appropriate $1000,000 to establish a Council District 12 led, Comprehensive Cleaning & Rapid Engagement vehicle recycling program.

With this dedicated account, LAPD's Commission Investigation Division will now coordinate with our district's Official Police Garage to ensure that unsafe, dilapidated, or otherwise uninhabitable recreation or oversized vehicles are being recycled and space remains available for CARE+ operations.
