What A Difference A Year Makes!
The results my team and I delivered during our first year in office set the bar for what is possible when communities and a council office work together to solve our biggest challenges! I'm looking forward to another year of working together to build a #Better11. Check out our year-end recap video here!
That's A Wrap: Your Final Legislative Update For 2023!

This week, we finished our last session as a Council for 2023. It was another action-packed week for CD11 as I secured approval of our latest measure to ensure safety and accessibility along sidewalks surrounding several parks and underpasses in the 11th District, took action to address the dissemination of threatening and anti-Semitic flyers, finalized our permanent Al Fresco ordinance, and introduced a motion seeking to regulate vehicles being utilized as mobile storefronts.

Honoring Reverend Andy Bales

As Reverend Andy Bales embarks on his next chapter, we honored him for his 35 years of service as CEO of Union Rescue Mission in Skid Row. His street-level perspective, unwavering commitment to recovery and sobriety-based homeless housing interventions, and his fearlessness in speaking truth to power made him a hero to me long before I personally knew him.

It was an honor to host Reverend Bales in City Council and present a Resolution acknowledging his service to our City. We wish Reverend Bales much success and happiness in his future ventures!

Celebrating Our First Year In Office With Mayor Bass!

It was a pleasure to host Mayor Bass at the Rose Cafe in Venice to celebrate the end of our first year in office.

Westchester Community Plan Update
I want to personally thank the many members of the Westchester community for their engagement with me and my team and members of City Planning to review and provide additional feedback regarding the Westchester Community Plan update. As a result of our listening sessions and tours across the neighborhood, new maps will be released by City Planning in January which will better reflect community concerns. This is what collaboration and engagement are all about!

California Yacht Club Destroyed By Massive Fire
We are devastated by the loss of the California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey, which was destroyed in a massive fire earlier this week. The California Yacht Club has become a cultural icon of Marina del Rey and an anchor for the boating community for the last fifty years.

This incident led to the hospitalization of two firefighters who have made a full recovery. I visited the scene just hours after the fire to offer my support to our firefighters, affected neighbors, and club members.

Park's Pick
I've been waiting all year for this very special Park's Pick! This week we celebrate Vicente Foods' 75th anniversary. For more than seven decades, the Adams family and its dedicated staff evolved Vicente Foods into more than just a grocery shopping experience - it has become an integral part of Brentwood's culture, history, and community spirit!
Amid the neighborhood’s lively transformations, Vicente Foods stands as a reassuring constant, artfully preserving the distinctive character that defines Brentwood. From locally-sourced fruits and vegetables to specialty meats, their products are top quality. Absolutely, do not miss their tasty Alligator Pecan Coffee Cake! Join me in congratulating Vicente Foods on 75 years of excellence!
