This week I had the opportunity to meet with residents in Granada Hills at the local LAPD Basic Car meeting.

Residents in Granada Hills know all too well the issue of rising crime and it was critical for me to speak with them about some of the initiatives my office is undertaking to combat home burglaries and the general concerns the community has about public safety matters. I want to take a moment to thank the LAPD for hosting this important event and the 100+ residents who came out to voice their concerns and make sure that my office and our law enforcement partners are aware of what’s going on and their opinions on how we can improve the safety of the community.

My office will have more updates on these initiatives in the coming weeks and I look forward to maintaining an open dialogue with residents on how we can support each other and bring about the solutions we know will help keep our neighborhoods safe.

KOREAN AMERICAN DAY

Today, alongside Korean American leaders in Los Angeles the City Council celebrated the 121st anniversary of Korean American Day, a milestone in the Korean community’s history that marks the arrival of the first Korean immigrants. Every January 13th, this commemoration highlights the accomplishments and history of the Korean community throughout our city and country and as the only Korean American on the City Council, it is imperative for me to make sure we do our history justice.

Congratulations to all Korean Americans across the city and to those who have stood side-by-side with us throughout this journey.

2024 Homeless Count

The Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count is the annual census that counts the number of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Through the Count, we’re better able to direct and advocate for vital services for unhoused individuals. The Count is coming up, taking place January 23-25, 2024. Join the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council

The Chatsworth Neighborhood is looking for Chatsworth residents who want to help shape the future of their community. The filing period to run for board seats opened on January 1st and will end on February 15th. Voting will take place on March 16. For more information, follow this link.

Rapid Response Senior Meals Program

The Rapid Response Senior Meals Program (RRSMP) addresses the nutritional needs of City residents aged 60 years and above who are experiencing food insecurity and who may be frail. This program will serve five nutritious, home-delivered meals weekly to older adults who may be unable or reluctant to return to congregate meal sites at this point because of health concerns. This nutrition program not only addresses immediate food needs, but also connects recipients to a range of supportive services through our Multipurpose Senior Centers that ideally lead to improved physical, mental, and social health outcomes for our city's senior population.

For those interested in participating in the RRSMP, we have simplified the application process. Seniors, their representatives, or your staff can contact the RRSMP by:
