CD11 Staff Changes For 2024

As we hit the ground running in 2024, we continue to expand our team and I'm excited to share some changes that will build on last year's successes across the District.

First, I'm delighted to announce the well-deserved promotion of Juan Fregoso as our new District Director. Initially serving as our Housing and Homelessness Coordinator, Juan led our District's drastic reduction in encampments through extensive collaboration, strategic planning, and sheer determination. We know he is going to thrive at the helm of all CD11 field operations.

Second, Sean Silva has taken on a new role as Venice Field Deputy as he continues to assist Jeff Khau with District-wide planning and land use matters. We are super excited to welcome Dylan Stickland as our new Field Deputy for Westchester, Ladera, Playa del Rey and Playa Vista.

Third, we are excited to announce that Trey Grogan has joined our #Better11 team as our Airport Liaison. With Trey's background in clean transportation and infrastructure and his passion for community engagement, we are excited to welcome him to CD11!

Finally, we are really excited that Adam Acosta and Lila Vandenberghe have joined the CD11 team as Constituent Services Deputies.

Be sure to visit our "Team Traci" webpage for an in-depth look at your entire #Better11 team!
Firewise Christmas Tree Recycling

As we say goodbye to the holiday season, its time to recycle your Christmas tree! Instead of putting them in landfills, LASAN recycles Christmas trees into mulch, which we reuse in our City parks and make available for free. We highly encourage residents in our hillside and canyon communities to take advantage of the free mulch, which helps retain moisture and prevents erosion. And, because more than one-third of Christmas tree home fires occur in January, timely disposal reduces fire risks in your home and reduces strain on our Fire Department.

Thank you to Chief Crowley and Fire Station 59 for hosting me, LASAN, Recreation & Parks, and Board of Public Works for a demonstration of the LASAN Christmas tree recycling program.

What is the best way to make a service request to the City of Los Angeles? Use the MyLA311 app or go to my lacity.gov/myla311. Both are easy and efficient ways to ask for sidewalk repairs, tree trimming, or bulky item collection.

This week, Field Deputy Michael Amster explains some basic steps to request a bulky item and Christmas tree pickup.
Standing Against Sexual Violence
On Thursday, I was honored to stand with WIZO-California, a non-profit organization focused on improving the lives of women, children, and the elderly living in Israel, in condemning the sexual violence perpetrated against Israeli girls and women on October 7, 2023.
I proudly presented a resolution on behalf of the City of Los Angeles, signed by our Council, Mayor, and City Attorney, explicitly condemning these crimes and standing in solidarity with the girls and women of Israel.
