Dear Friends and Neighbors:
I hope this email finds you safe after this week’s storms. City crews are responding to multiple reports of mud and debris flows, power outages, fallen trees, and other obstructions, and recovery efforts are underway.
The National Weather Service has advised that more rain is anticipated Wednesday evening and I urge you to continue to exercise caution and check in with friends and neighbors. You can visit emergency.lacity.gov for up-to-date information on storm impacts, road closures, and resources for recovery.
To request any non-emergency City services and to report any storm related damage, please call 311 or download the myLA311 app to easily create a service ticket from your phone. As always, you can reach out to our office for non-emergency issues by calling (213) 473-7001 or emailing us at councilmember.hernandez@lacity.org. Check out our newsletter below for upcoming events, district updates, and the latest resources.

 | When we took office we were met with a large backlog of unaddressed City service requests. Over the past year we have worked with our partners to close out these requests and bring back vital services to the district. Through collaboration with the Bureau of Street Services, Bureau of Street Lighting, and LA Sanitation, we were able to complete the following in 2023: 1,296 pothole requests 7,927 miles of street sweeping services 2,923 illegal dumping services 3,358 trees trimmed 3,979 lights restored
| | And the services continue in 2024! We partnered with LA Conservation Corps and Victory Resources to complete a weed, litter, and bulky item removal operation in Westlake. The maintenance was focused on Occidental Blvd and covered all medians between W 3rd and 6th St. The team was able to collect 18 trash bags during the operation. We are grateful for the team at LA Conservation Corps and Victory Resources who made this happen for our Westlake community. | | Councilmember Hernandez and staff scattered across the District to Glassell Park, Pico Union, MacArthur Park, and Lincoln Heights participate in the Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count. We are grateful to LAHSA for their leadership and for the thousands of volunteers who gathered across LA County to support efforts to bring critical resources to our unhoused neighbors. |
