This week, I sat down with Councilmember Blumenfield, the Chair of our City's Budget and Finance committee to learn more about the annual budget process, including how we balance competing priorities and what to expect during the next budget cycle, which kicks off in April.

Stay tuned over the next few weeks as we continue our series about the City's finances and how you can make your voice heard during this next budget season.

Volunteer For This Year's Homeless Count

As many of you know, LAHSA conducts an annual homeless count across Los Angeles County. These numbers are used to allocate resources and will influence the City's overall response to the homeless crisis. This year, CD11 will host a number staging locations. Find the nearest one near you by registering to volunteer.

California Deep Ocean DDT Community Meeting
Our friends over at USC Sea Grant and California Sea Grant in partnership with Heal the Bay are hosting a community meeting to provide an update on the latest findings on deep-ocean DDT: where it is, and how it is affecting humans and wildlife. As Vice Chair of the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission and the representative of our Westside coastal communities, I take our responsibility to protect and preserve our coastal habitats for future generations very seriously. Feel free to sign up to learn more by clicking here.
Park's Pick

This week was a very special Park's Pick in the heart of Del Rey with Casa Sanchez, owned and operated by Raul Sanchez. My team and I joined Raul and his staff to sit down for a family-style meal to learn more about his fascinating story. An immigrant to the United States at age 13, Raul learned his culinary craft making street tacos. When he saved up $500, he opened the Sanchez Meat Market in Culver City in 1982, and then Casa Sanchez in 2006, which has been a CD11 staple ever since. For many years, Raul has been a pillar in the community, supporting events with local schools, LAPD, the annual homeless count, and the Del Rey Neighborhood Council.

Walking into the restaurant, the air is filled with the aroma of traditional Mexican recipes passed down through generations, and the Mariachi and Folklorico Show creates an enchanting ambiance. Bring your family and settle in for a truly authentic dining experience!
