Affordable Housing Production On Religious & Educational Land
It’s no secret that Los Angeles needs more housing at all affordability levels. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t build and develop in a way that is mindful and respectful of the neighborhoods and communities that make up the fabric of our City.

Unfortunately, new state laws are making it harder to strike this balance. For instance, SB 4, which went into effect this year, allows for the development of housing on the sites of faith-based as well as non-profit educational institutions across the state - a one-size-fits-all approach that disregards each neighborhood’s unique character.

Unlike SB4, the City has a proposed draft ordinance that will incentivize housing production which still needs to go through robust community engagement, public comment, and multiple hearings.

For this reason, I voted “no” on an item in council this week that would get ahead of this process, disregarding community input and consideration.
Westchester Public Safety Update
This week, thieves broke into several homes in Westchester, stealing valuable property and frightening families who were at home. These incidents are unacceptable, and I have been working closely with LAPD to ensure investigating these crimes remains a top priority.
As I continue to fight at City Hall for funding and resources to hire the police officers we desperately need in our neighborhoods, there are several steps you can take to help keep your home and family safe

Storm Damage Update
Our very wet winter, which isn't over yet, caused flooding, mudslides, and other storm damage across the District. City departments continue to monitor and assess these areas, and the Emergency Management Department has updated its website with Storm Recovery Resources. Feel free to contact your CD11 Field Deputy if you have questions about how to report storm damage.
