You’ve heard me say it many times, but Council District 12 is a special place because of the people who work daily to ensure our community thrives. Over the last week, those efforts have been showcased in various ways.

Throughout Los Angeles and in CD12, speeding continues to threaten the safety of pedestrians and drivers alike. After being tipped off by constituents about a speeding issue at Devonshire and Mason, my office worked with Devonshire’s Volunteer Community Patrol to radar the area. The Community Patrol successfully gathered data on the speeding issue while also temporarily deterring speeding during their deployment. The volunteers handed off the data to LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division which resulted in the location being added to the division’s patrol!

When it comes to organizations that do it all, one of the first groups that comes to mind is the Chatsworth Women’s Club. Recently, several Board Members of the club attended the Sierra Cahuenga District Convention in Calabasas and came home with nine prestigious recognition awards. These accolades, spanning categories such as Advocates for Children, Civic Engagement and Outreach, Education and Libraries, Environment, and Communications and Public Relations, not only honor the club but also underscore its work within our community.

I am always thrilled to spotlight the fantastic work that the ladies of the Chatsworth Women’s Club do on a daily basis, and it brings me joy to see their work being recognized throughout the region!

Freedom Church, Kiwanis Club of Chatsworth, LA Family Housing, and myriad agencies, service providers and organizations whose mission it is to provide assistance and services joined forces with my office to bring resources to homeless individuals in the district. From providing necessities like food and haircuts to significant resources like access to service providers, this event aims to benefit people living on the streets and is only possible because of the partnerships and collective work of so many dedicated individuals.

Serving a community of people who give back on a daily basis is a source of inspiration for me, and I look forward to continuing to support their efforts whenever possible.
