It was another rough week for public safety on Metro and the Westside, but we will not be deterred in our efforts to make Los Angeles safe and accessible for everyone.
This week in City Council, we addressed driverless vehicles, secured funding for mental health beds and our Vibrant Venice initiative, advanced the Bundy Triangle Park project, discussed new sewer fees, and monitored the budget process.
Watch My Interview On Spectrum's Inside The issues
It was a pleasure to sit down again with Amrit Singh on Inside the Issues to talk about our Coastal Care+ and Vibrant Venice initiatives, mental health beds, and independent redistricting. Check it out!
I was beyond stoked to have Shohei Ohtani, Coach Dave Roberts, and the LA Dodgers organization visit us in Council Chambers! We can't wait to see how many records he will break, how many awards he will win, and how many people he will inspire in the years to come. Go Dodgers!
I am so excited to invite you to Venice Fleet Week 2024 next week - May 25th! My team and the entire community will be welcoming active-duty members of the Navy with a number of fun and service-oriented activities for all. This will include a Venice Beach clean-up, local business crawl, and a performance at the Venice Skate Park all with men and women serving our Navy including the Navy's official band! I can't wait to see you there!
Fire Service Day Was A Hit!
Hundreds of people turned out for the pancake breakfast at Fire Station 63! It was a pleasure to partner with LAFD and the Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary Club to bring this special event to the Venice community! We never say no to a chance to thank our first responders!
Congratulations To Honorary Fire Chief Thelma Waxman!
Thelma Waxman, President of the Brentwood Homeowners Association, was named an LAFD Honorary Fire Chief this week. Thelma has not only been an incredible leader of BHA, but has also been instrumental in establishing the Brentwood Fire Safe Council - a grassroots, community-led organization that mobilize residents to protect their homes, communities, and environments from catastrophic wildfire. LAFD recognizes Honorary Fire Chiefs each year based upon their public service and heartfelt support of the LAFD mission.
Coyotes In The Neighborhood!
