We were thrilled this week to launch our long-awaited Coastal Care+ Team, which will provide enhanced environmental and sanitation services to address encampments in all of CD11’s coastal communities. This new team enables us to redeploy our existing Care and Care+ operations to other parts of the District, which means the entire Westside will regularly see the benefits of this essential work!
We are also excited to announce our #VibrantVenice initiative, which includes enhanced security and cleaning services around the public restrooms at Ocean Front Walk and investment in mental health treatment beds to help address some of the most challenging cases remaining on the streets.
With an inflow of tens of thousands of visitors every day, ensuring our City's top recreation and tourism destination is safe, clean, and accessible for everyone is an investment that benefits all of Los Angeles.
It was a pleasure to join the Brentwood Homeowners Association and LAPD at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple - Resnick Family Campus to provide an update about public safety on the Westside. We talked about LAPD staffing levels, Real Time Crime Centers, needed legislative reforms, and strategies to combat property crime. These community partnerships are essential as law enforcement is constantly asked to do more, with less.
Station 63's Fire Service Day: Join Us for Pancakes!
Join us for Fire Service Day at Fire Station 63 in Venice Beach! Come by and enjoy some delicious pancakes while chatting with our firefighters this morning. See you there!
Bundy Triangle Park Renovations
For the last 25 years, the Bundy Triangle park has been fenced and inaccessible to the public. We are very pleased to work with the West LA/Sawtelle Neighborhood Council on plans to restore and reopen this local park.
In support of these efforts, we were really excited to host landscape and urban design students from Cal Poly Pomona at our District Office. These talented young people spent the semester meeting with the community, learning about the neighborhood, and creating design concepts to help us get the process kickstarted.
Recognizing Jewish American Heritage Month
May is Jewish Heritage Month, and on Wednesday, I stood in solidarity with my colleagues and the Jewish community to acknowledge Yom Hashoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day. With fewer and fewer survivors left, the obligation to remember and share their stories remains on us.
With hate-motivated incidents happening daily around the City, its more important than ever to promote inclusivity and stand against all forms of prejudice. (Above photos are from November's Forum addressing Antisemitism.)
As wildfire season approaches, it's crucial to have a plan in place. The LAFD and Emergency Management Department offer valuable resources to raise awareness and reduce vulnerabilities. Check out the EMD's informative pamphlet for a step-by-step guide on preparation. Stay informed about LAFD's recommended responses to wildfires by visiting their webpage. Stay safe and prepared this wildfire season!

Lulu's Place Is On Its Way!
I was so excited about breaking ground on Lulu's Place in Westchester that I couldn't wait for the ribbon cutting to make Lulu's my weekly pick!
Named in memory of Carol "Lulu" Kimmelman, who passionately believed in the transformative powers of sports and education, Lulu's Place will bring a world-class tennis complex, soccer fields, volleyball and basketball courts, a dog park, and picnic area, with programming to be provided by the USTA Foundation, TGR Foundation, and Winward Academy, among others. Congratulations to the entire Kimmelman family, LAWA, and all of the stakeholders and community partners on turning this dream into a reality!
May Is National Pet Month!
Friday's council presentation commemorated May as National Pet Month and offered us the opportunity to highlight the priceless companionship our cherished pets offer. Huskers, our 3-year-old special guest at the council, was a reminder of the countless wonderful companions currently awaiting adoption. If you'd like to adopt or foster Huskers, you can find him at the North Central Animal Services Center, ID # A2125761.
Pretty Lady enjoys hanging out with volunteers and walks nicely on a leash. She is 4-years-old, weighs 62-lbs, and is available for adoption from Chesterfield Square/South LA Center. Visit laanimalservices.com to find out more about adopting Pretty Lafdy. #AdoptDontShop 🐾
