It’s budget season here in Los Angeles, and we are making sure our residents know how to tap in to the process at City Hall. Team CD1 has partnered with the Chinatown Teen Council and Best Start to hold Budget 101 workshops in Chinatown and Westlake so community members can engage in the budget process. The message from community is clear — people want to see a budget that deeply invests in the programming and services that support our youth and elderly, that prevents displacement, and that delivers on service requests to fix sidewalks, repair street lights, and clean neighborhoods.

A budget is a statement of our values. As the first week of budget hearings wrap in the Budget, Finance and Innovation (BFI) Committee, we are getting a clearer picture of what our City departments need in order to continue delivering services for Angelenos, and how the proposed budget will impact their ability to provide resources. You can find the calendar for the rest of the BFI Committee hearings here and listen in by visiting cityclerk.lacity.gov.

A new month means a new food distribution calendar! Stop by any of the locations to free and fresh groceries. All distributions begin at 10am and happen rain or shine.

There are thousands of dogs, cats, rabbits and other furry friends available for adoption at LA Animal Services shelters.
