This week in City Council, we completed our deliberations on the City budget, and I introduced a motion calling for a report on why so many of our City's interim and supportive housing units are sitting vacant.
This week, we celebrated the 50th Annual Emergency Medical Services Week! I was honored to recognize the heroic work of our LAFD EMTs, paramedics, and firefighters who save lives every day.
Recognizing Fleet Week At City Hall
I was honored to join Councilmember McOsker in bringing LA Fleet Week to City Hall. This weekend, you can visit the Waterfront and Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro for ship tours, military displays and demonstrations, galley wars, live entertainment, and so much more. Men and women in uniform will be activating neighborhoods (including Venice!) and doing community service projects across the entire City, so if you see a member of the military, please be sure to say thank you!
CD11 Visits The USS Carl Vinson
Your CD11 team was thrilled to be escorted by active US Navy personnel through the hangars, living quarters, and up to the flight deck of the USS Carl Vinson. Our visit to San Pedro was the perfect kickoff to the Fleet Week festivities. We look forward to seeing you at our Second Annual Fleet Week Venice Beach Takeover on Saturday!
Airport Marina Counseling Services Spring Celebration
I had the honor of speaking at the AMCS Spring Celebration to support the vital mission AMCS of providing low and no cost counseling and mental healthcare services. And, it was an honor to join AMCS President Eden Garcia-Balis in recognizing LAX Coastal Chamber CEO Chad Maender with the 2024 Community Builder award for his commitment to improving local communities through collaboration and partnership.
I was so excited to join our pals at Friends of Ballona Wetlands for the annual Migration Celebration at Ballona Discovery Park in Playa Vista. Visitors were treated to educational programs, live music, a Bob Baker marionette show, docent-led eco tours and more. We love celebrating our District's incredible natural resources!
Women's Lifeguard Academy
What an inspiring day honoring the Women's Fire League and the Women's Lifeguard Prep Academy! Their dedication to water safety and career development is truly commendable!
