Notice from the Leadership Team - 30 June Special Meeting regarding the appointment of a new Senior Pastor

As most of you will know, we have been on a search journey lasting several months.  The Search Committee has done a massive amount of work, and FBC attendees have been in patient prayer!  With huge thanks for everyone’s input, we are really excited to advise that we are now in a position to bring a nomination for Senior Pastor of FBC.

God has not only been working in our midst as a church - He has also been working to provide a clear calling to the person whose name we are going to bring forward.

As our constitution requires that we give two weeks’ notice for calling this meeting, we plan to gather after a shortened Sunday morning service on 30th June.   We have considered other (later) dates that don’t clash with the Matariki public holiday weekend. However later dates clash with the school holidays when we know many people will also be away.

At this meeting we will:

  • Present the full name and profile of the candidate
  • Have an open time for anyone to ask questions
  • Vote on the nomination by secret ballot in accordance with our constitution
While only members are able to vote on the day, we very much want everyone to come and participate.  The voice of the whole congregation is really important here!

We are not presenting full details regarding the candidate at this time because the person still needs to give notice to their current employer.  We have, however, prepared a brief general profile for you.

We would respectfully ask that you avoid any speculative conversations or direct questioning of individuals to try and elicit more detail.  We will be sure to provide full details at the meeting!

Over the coming days before we meet, we welcome any questions/thoughts you may have about:
  • the process we will conduct at the meeting on the 30th
  • any specific things you would like us to cover in that meeting
Please send these to esther.calley@me.com no later than Thursday 27 June.
Be in much prayer for our time together!
