| | | | | Rapid Response Team Six-Month Check-In |
| | Our district's rapid response team operates in our community five days a week, collecting illegally dumped items and helping maintain CD12 as one of the city's cleanest districts. We're excited to announce that our Rapid Response Team has removed over 3,800 illegally dumped items across the district at the halfway point of the year! These items include large items such as refrigerators, mattresses, TVs, and chairs, as well as smaller items like bags of weeds and trash.
If you come across any illegally dumped items or see large items needing removal, please call 3-1-1 to report and arrange a pick-up. |
| | | | Prepare and Protect Yourself for Heat Season Summer is here, and as those of us in the San Fernando Valley know, temperatures can be sweltering during the summer season. Many areas throughout Los Angeles County, including the West San Fernando Valley, are currently under an excessive heat warning through the start of next week. Here are a couple of recommendations for high-temperature days:
· Drink plenty of water and keep hydrated throughout the day.
· If you must go out, plan your day to avoid going out during the hottest hours, and wear sunscreen. Wear lightweight, light-colored clothes, and wear a hat or use an umbrella.
· Cars get very hot inside, even if the windows are ‘cracked’ or open. Never leave children or pets in cars. Call 911 if you see a child or pet in a car alone.
· Beware of and know what to do for heat-related illness, such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Call 911 right away if you see these symptoms: high body temperature (103°F or higher), vomiting, dizziness, confusion, and hot, red, dry, or damp skin. Heat stroke is a medical emergency.
Additionally, the City of Los Angeles Climate and Emergency Mobilization has a one-stop shop where you can find cooling centers and learn more about heat resources. Click here to learn more. |

| | Red, White, and Woof Adoption Days LA Animal Services wants to ensure that furry friends find loving homes ahead of July 4 so they’re offering reduced adoption fees for dogs and cats during the Red, White, and Woof Adoption Days, happening through Wednesday, July 3. Adoption fees for dogs will be $51 (not including $20 license); $75 for puppies; cats will be $12.50; and $25 for kittens.
Fireworks are illegal in the City of Los Angeles. Many pets are frightened by the booming sounds and bright lights resulting in these animals escaping their homes and ending up in City shelters. Please open your heart and home to an amazing dog, puppy, cat, or kitten to ensure there is lifesaving space in the six LA Animal Services Centers.

| | Proposed Increases to Sewer Rates By now you probably have heard that the City of Los Angeles is proposing a rate increase for its Sewer Service Charge (SSC). The funds bring needed updates to the City’s aging sewer system and go specifically toward the management, maintenance, and improvement of that system. Steady rate increases were paused in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Property owners will receive a notice in the mail in early July outlining the need for the proposed rate increase and how they can learn more about providing input at two webinars this summer. Wastewater treatment is among the most critical services LASAN provides to protect public health and the environment. We understand that many Angelenos may require financial assistance with their bills, and encourage them to visit http://www.ladwp.com/financialassistance to learn more about LADWP’s financial assistance programs.
To learn more about the proposed rate adjustments, we encourage you to attend one of LASAN’s webinars on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 9:30 am, and Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 6 pm.
To register in advance, visit the respective link on each date. Visit www.lacitysan.org/rates for more information. |
