Go Skate Day With P•Rod!
On Go Skate Day 2024, we officially declared June 20 as Paul Rodriguez Day in the City of Los Angeles! It was a blast to acknowledge the tenth anniversary of Primitive Skateboarding, and one of its founders, the legendary Paul "P-Rod" Rodriguez. P-Rod is an X Games gold-medalist, actor, entrepreneur, and father who has inspired millions of people around the world. I was truly honored to host him.

Metro Developer Selected For Current Venice ABH Site
Metro first announced its plans to develop the former bus maintenance yard on Main Street in Venice all the way back in early 2016, and the process to select a developer began in 2019. The two finalist teams presented their concepts to the community in March 2024, and on Thursday, Metro announced its selection of Metro Venice Art Collective's Design for the "Metro on Main" project. We will keep you updated on community meetings as this project moves forward!

Westchester Community Safety Forum
After the gang-related shooting at Westchester Park on Monday evening, it was clear the community needed to hear directly from CD11 and LAPD. We did that on Thursday when we hosted an open discussion about public safety concerns at LAXPD Headquarters. With extra patrols and mounted police on the ground, please know that LAPD and CD11 have your back.

A great way to stay up-to-date about local crime issues and engage directly with LAPD is to attend your local Neighborhood Council's Public Safety Committee meetings.

Welcome, West Coast Care!
We are so excited to announce that Pastor Ron Hooks and his team at West Coast Care are joining forces with CD11 and officially expanding their operations to Venice Beach! Among other things, West Coast Care focuses on family reunifications. Getting the unhoused back into the care of families and close friends is essential for sustained long-term recovery, and we are proud to add their expertise to our efforts!
Gun Violence Awareness Month
June is Gun Violence Awareness Month, reminding us of the toll gun violence takes on families in Los Angeles. Back in January, I collaborated with the LAPD, Sheriff's Department, and Superior Court to combat domestic violence-related gun violence by developing a centralized portal for firearm relinquishment orders. This small step will enable our public safety partners to quickly take guns out of the hands of violent abusers.
