Welcome to the Connection Corner
Connection Corner is our weekly publication bringing you insight and information so that we can stay connected.
Renew Together
Check out this short promo video to discover what renew together is about.

In last year’s Renew Together series, we explored Matthew 28 — the risen and ascending Jesus’ command to his followers “to go and make disciples of all nations”. We saw how this was a continuation of God’s call on the people of God that dated back to Genesis 12: 1-10 when Abraham and Sarah were called to leave their country and join God to bless the nations of the world. This year we continue the journey —beyond the risen Jesus’ command— to the emerging church in the Book of Acts. We begin with the disciples waiting in the upper room. They are scared but also expectant. What will Jesus do next?

As part of our renew together series we will be doing a collection over the next 3 weeks which be given to Arotahi, the missions arm of the Baptist Churches of New Zealand.
Renew Together funds goes to the growth and sustainability of overseas projects, NZ mission, resourcing NZ churches and core costs. You can give via the website, the Church Center App, direct debit (please use renew together as details) or via cash on the 21st July during the service.

PAUSE and PRAY

As a followup to our call to prayer, please find below suggested prayer points for this week.

  • Grateful to God that He never leaves us and is with us in the hard and good times
  • Uplift Erin and his family as they continue to walk thru this time of seeking and trusting God
  • Leadership Team as they seek God in the next steps and process the past weeks events

Josh's farewell - 28 July 2024

Josh has been with FBC in a paid role since January 2009. Before this time he was part of the youth ministry and the worship team. While we will certainly miss Josh and his whole family, we know that God has His hand on them all, and we know that God has great plans for Josh in ministry. So it is with sadness we say goodbye but with excitement we look to the future.
To farewell Josh on the 28th of July we will have a shared lunch after the service. Please bring something savoury and we will provide something sweet.

If you would like to contribute towards a gift for Josh, please use the Church bank account 01 0403 0013842 00. Please put Josh’s name on the internet banking code or on an envelope if you would like to give cash.

Oasis takes a break over the school holidays

Just a quick reminder that Oasis takes a break over the school holidays, Wednesday the 10th and 17th of July.
However there will still be a small group gathering for those who would like to come along hosted by Margaret and Colin. Come and fellowship over morning tea, provided, and share together your joys and any prayer requests. Wednesday the 10th and 17th 10am-11:15 in the church cafe.

Where will you serve?
There are several opportunities for you to serve in our church family. These include:

  • Children's Ministry - there are vacancies in all our children's ministry programs for helpers. Pre-school, primary and intermediate programs.
  • Ushering team - helping people find a space to sit on a Sunday morning.
  • Church building admin team - go on a team to help with getting rooms ready for church ministries and communities renting them.
  • Security team - walking around the building and car park during a Sunday morning service. This is not Security guard duties but more of a hospitality/helping hand nature.
  • Hospitality - going on a roster to help with getting coffee/tea ready on a Sunday morning.
  • Pastoral Care - go on a team to provide help and care to individuals/families as and when needed as and when you are able to.
