Welcome to the Connection Corner
This week you may want to grab yourself a cup of coffee as there is lots to read.

Final thoughts from Josh v
Thank you all so much for the beautiful send off on Sunday. I was blessed and encouraged by the words and stories that were shared. Over the last few days I was able to read the cards and messages in the memories book. This bought about such fond memories of times spent together. As I drink my cup of coffee today and reflect over the last 16 years in paid Ministry at FBC I am truely grateful to God for His abundant provision and guiding through this time. I am going to miss serving Jesus in this place but know that God has plans for me far greater than I can even imagine. So from the bottom of my heart thank you all for your love and support.

Psalm 86:12-13
Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honour you. With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God. I will give glory to your name forever.

Connection Corner looking different going forward
I have been the one to produce the connection corner each week. This has been something that I felt was needed in this season as the staff team continued to pick up other roles with the reduced staffing at FBC, ie no Senior Pastor. As this is my last official day this will be our last full Connection Corner for a season. The Staff and Leadership Teams are committed to good communication so here are some of the ways they will achieve this in this season.
1. Monthly Events Calendar. This is where all of the months events will be communicated. If you would like your FBC Church event in this calendar you need to get all the info to carol@fbc.nz before the 20th of the month, for the next month.
2. Whaanau News. On Sunday during the church service there will be updates and notices for the church to hear. Our hope is that these are highlighting upcoming events, and that all of the info can be found in the Events Calendar.
3. Connection Corner. This will still be produced each week but in a very minimal form, some weeks just having the link to the events calendar and the links to the online service. But my hope is that you still regularly check this communication as the Staff or Leadership teams may push some more info out through this method.
4. Special announcements. As always if FBC has special announcements to make this will be pushed out as normal.
5. Communication back. The Church loves hearing things back from you. If you would like to share with us we welcome this. For the Staff team email info@fbc.nz or for the Leaders leaders@fbc.nz
Thank you for your commitment to make FBC a place of better communication.

On Saturday night our very own Lily Van Dam hosted an amazing event as part of her schools service project. She was able to lead a team of people to help raise over $4000 for Child Rescue. Lily FBC is proud of you and love your heart for justice. Keep striving and working out of your beautiful heart. God has great plans for you.
If you would like to donate to Child Rescue you can do so via their website. (please note this method does not go toward Lily's total but can go to rescue children from slavery)

Where will you serve?
There are several opportunities for you to serve in our church family. These include:

  • Children's Ministry - there are vacancies in all our children's ministry programs for helpers. Pre-school, primary and intermediate programs.
  • Ushering team - helping people find a space to sit on a Sunday morning.
  • Church building admin team - go on a team to help with getting rooms ready for church ministries and communities renting them.
  • Security team - walking around the building and car park during a Sunday morning service. This is not Security guard duties but more of a hospitality/helping hand nature.
  • Hospitality - going on a roster to help with getting coffee/tea ready on a Sunday morning.
  • Pastoral Care - go on a team to provide help and care to individuals/families as and when needed as and when you are able to.
Please check out the "Where would you like to serve?" link under sign-ups in the Church Center app or sign up here.
Thank you for reading our Connection Corner. We hope this communication will help to connect us together as a congregation.

FBC Whānau Statements
In our Church Whānau, every language, tribe and tongue is of value. We embrace the diversity amongst us, and we are open to God’s lead wherever he may take us on the bi-cultural and multi-cultural journey.

In our Church Whānau, we respect and partner with Franklin Baptist Church staff. We stand shoulder to shoulder serving God and we work together to achieve His mission amongst us.

In our Church Whānau, we follow a “how can I help” approach. If we see something that needs change or improvement, we take responsibility as individuals to proactively and constructively work with the relevant Leadership Team member or Ministry Leader to address the matter.

In our Church Whānau, we carefully consider how our thoughts, speech and actions may impact one another. We show love and respect, and we receive/give feedback to each other with grace and humility.

In our Church Whānau, we affirm both men and women equally in leadership and service. We encourage all people to discover where God is calling them to serve.

Join us at 10AM in-person or online.  Unfortunately we are aware that Covid is on the rise again. We would love to have you join us online for the service if you are not able or unwell. Please contact us if you need support info@fbc.nz
