This week, we celebrated the opening of the Iris Apartments in West Los Angeles. With units for working families at affordable rents and individuals exiting homelessness, the Iris is an example of a housing solution that thoughtfully balances development, density and services. They don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
I had the privilege of welcoming Robert, one of the residents to his new home. Robert lived in a vehicle on the Westside, struggling to make ends meet. After connecting with The People Concern, Robert eagerly moved into transitional housing. With hard work and perseverance, this week, we welcomed Robert to his new home at the Iris Apartments in Sawtelle.
As we address housing issues across the City, we must invest in projects and programs that respect, improve, and empower our communities. Thank you to Affirmed Housing and The People Concern for delivering this amazing opportunity on the Westside, and thank you to Robert for sharing your story of inspiration and purpose.

West LA Civic Center
Team Park wants to share our heartfelt gratitude to our partners at LAPD for their hard work this week to address the growing encampment at the West LA Civic Center. La Cienega Median
Our CD11 Beautification Team was back at it this week, this time tackling the overgrowth and debris on the La Cienega median. Since bringing our Beautification Team on board, they've been working weekly to clean and enhance our public spaces. If you know of an area that needs some attention, please contact us at the Westchester District Office.
This week’s Park’s Pick is all about the vibrant charm of Heather’s Flowers, a Venice Beach treasure that’s been beautifying the Westside for 22 years. While hanging at the shop with the owner, Ross, I was captivated by the stunning arrangements that continue to delight their loyal customers. I also wanted to personally thank Ross for donating the flowers displayed at Sarah Alden's Candlelight Vigil. CD11 appreciates your deep connection to the neighborhood and all you do to help it thrive. Let’s keep celebrating and supporting this beloved local business!
