September 13, 2024

This week, Los Angeles once again made history with another significant moment to add to its rich and eventful past. With the conclusion of the Olympics and Paralympic Games in Paris, Los Angeles is now officially the torch-bearer for the next summer games taking place throughout the city in 2028.

Alongside dozens of Los Angeles leaders and athletes, the City of Los Angeles officially unveiled the Olympic and Paralympic Flags at City Hall, symbolically starting the countdown until the games officially kick off in four years. Los Angeles is fortunate to be the host of the games for the third time and this opportunity gives us a chance to make our city shine, not only for the influx of guests, but for the residents that call Los Angeles home. I look forward to seeing what the next four years has in store for us and what progress the games will undoubtedly bring.

I additionally had the privilege of welcoming Heidi Hamilton and Frank Kramer of the Heidi and Frank Show on KLOS to the City Council to celebrate their decades of work in Los Angeles. Known for their unfiltered banter and anything-goes morning show, Heidi and Frank have remained an integral part of the morning commute for thousands of Angelenos. Through entertainment and laughter, Heidi and Frank have made each day a little brighter for their listeners.

Beyond the studio, Heidi & Frank have spearheaded numerous initiatives like "Stay Open LA" which supported hundreds of local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. They’ve hosted the annual KLOS Blood Drive, the nation's largest media blood drive to benefit the Red Cross, and have raised over 10 million dollars for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Because of their talent and dedication, Heidi and Frank have become integral to the fabric of our city and it was my honor to officially declare Heidi and Frank Day in the City of Los Angeles!

In more local news, I had the pleasure of continuing to extend my support to some remarkable organizations in Council District 12. The Granada Hills Chamber of Commerce and the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission are vital contributors to our community, dedicated to building on the well-being and prosperity in the Northwest San Fernando Valley.

The organizations and partnerships found throughout Council District 12 are undoubtedly among the reasons why this community is so special and it is always a privilege for me to join them in their efforts, and occasionally bring some friends along too!
